They will no doubt have to get in line behind the ACLU and NAACP.

Couldn't agree more. What the heck are they complaining about? Have you ever heard a Rap song that doesn't glorify drug use, assault, and female degradation? "They" embrace it with open arms, and I would even argue that this will be one of the big hits at all the upcoming weekend gang bang parties.
I am sure the decent human beings are the ones complaining....          Not every negro..is a gangbanger :? :? :? ..BTW yes I have heard plenty of rap songs w/o these things..listen to Ice-T

Jonathan....must I include "not all", or "not every", or "in some cases" in every post I make about my feelings concerning advocates of rape, violence, and female degradation? (aka Rap "artists?)

This is a disclaimer for all future posts I may make or reply to concerning this subject, that I do NOT mean all inclusive in my remarks. I think you know that, but this is an oppurtunity for you to jump down my throat. !!!!

Lindaloo wrote:Well you are wrong about Ice-T, Rainband. Ice-T wrote a rap song about killing cops. So he is not a great example. ;)

If I remember correctly, Ice-T was a featured rapper on the song "Cop Killer" by a rap and heavy-metal group called Body Count in the early 90's. The song was in protest of police brutality and in response to the Rodney King case. Due to protests about the song, it was removed from the album and not played in concerts. I don't believe he actually wrote it. He said he was singing in first-person as a character in protest.

And, to his credit, he currently plays a cop in "Law & Order: SVU" and played one in "New Jack City."

He was not a featured rapper, he is the front man of the heavy metal black band "Body Count" Furthermore, I have heard plenty of songs in protest to the meanness of the streets. Regardless of his reasons the words in the song speak for itself. The talk of "sticking a knife into the neck of a cop" sure does not sound like a protest to me. He may have said it was for that reason, but the lyrics tell another story.

What is your point about him playing a cop?

As I understood it, he was a featured rapper on that album as he was on some other heavy-metal album (Metallica? Iron Maiden? I don't recall). I did make a point of saying, "If I remember correctly..." Thanks for the correction, Linda.

I'm a cop killer, better you than me
Cop killer, f*** police brutality!
Cop killer, I know your family's grieving,
(F*** 'em!)
Cop killer, but tonight we get even,

It was a protest song.

And as for my comment about his portrayal of cops, I was simply pointing out that he can play a variety of characters -- good (cop) or bad (his rap persona). In my humble opinion, Eminem is nothing more than a character also.

If someone wants to take all lyrics and the people who sing them seriously, then why praise Johnny Cash? He "once shot a man in Reno just to watch him die."

Some of Will Smith's (Fresh Prince) stuff sounds pretty clean -- at least, the ones that I've heard on regular FM radio. And then there are also Christian rap groups like DC Talk. Christian music has about as many genres as mainstream music (rap, soul, country, R&B, pop, and so on). Just no "gangsta" stuff. I think most "gansta rap" and certainly ALL satanic rock is the hardest stuff out there. I would imagine that anyone would be hard-pressed to find "clean" satanic rock lyrics.

GD....I've already addressed this issue with Jonathan, and you know that because of course you read all the posts before entering a new reply.

I'm being generous here (and this is of course OMO)..but I'd have to say at least 75% of the Rap music out there fits my generalized description. Again...I'm being generous because I can't tell you the last time I pulled up to a red light and heard Busta Move(one of the better Rap songs I've ever heard) thumping out of the ghetto blaster on wheels. It's always full of swears, f this..f that...m-f'r this...ho' that, and the kind of lyrics that make me embarrased to have my Grandmother in the car with me. (or any female for that matter)

I'm just plain sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...so.....that is why I generalize. OK?

I know, J. I was just offering a few alternatives that I though of later. Not arguing with you...simply replying to you. :) I understood your point and I agree.

That's the stuff they should play more often.

Hey what about Marilyn Manson and the other "Shock" Rockers. They are worse than rappers. At least rapprers don't sing about shooting innocent people and eatting live animals or blowing up buildings...ever heard of Columbine? OK City bomber was a White Supremacist and listened to Racially Motivated Shock Rock...

Hell On Earth was WORSE than Marilyn Mansion, in fact a couple of weeks ago as mentioned on one of my topics, the band was planning a suicide performance in front of a select few fans at an undisclosed location.

I supposed I would classify Manson and HOE as satanic rock.

drezee.. why do you only see the racial issues of everything. This is not about race, it is about bad music.

And I agree.. Marilyn Manson is one nasty and ugly human being. He goes far beyond Satanic.

I think the "Ghettopoly" topic started as being about racism and switched to include music. Drezee is right about McVeigh though. Several pages of the "Turner Diaries" were found in his getaway car with highlighted sections, which shows his interest in the white supremacist movement. It's possible that he also listened to Aryan music. To me, there's not much difference between the KKK and the Black Panther movement.

It is only racism because the black leaders, black caucus and the NAACP says it is, not the black PEOPLE.
