Anywhere from $2.79 to $2.85 in my area. It had gotten down to $2.63 but went back up as quick as it went down.

Let's see . . . we had been holding at $2.69, with a couple of stations playing a penny game of being $2.68, but the holiday weekend has knocked them all up to $2.79/78, except for one out in the middle of nowhere that's still running $2.75. Hopefully they'll go back down later this week, but the stations are kind of known for taking advantage of a good reason to raise prices, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them hold these numbers for a while.

Oh yes.We can expect again another increase of the price at the pump thanks to the worried jitters about North Korea that are at the stock exchanges of Oil.

2.99 right over the bridge in NJ, $3.13 in Philly (and I was shocked when I was in Harrisburg on the 4th and the price was $2.85!!! That was cheaper than the NJ price of $2.95!!!)

Excitement over gas giveaway leads to crashes, arrests

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (AP) – Two car crashes occurred and four people were arrested in excitement over a gasoline giveaway Wednesday to reward the city for its safe-driving record.

For the most part, hundreds of drivers waited patiently for hours for about $30 worth of free gasoline each that Allstate Insurance provided at one station.

However, some motorists started lining up before midnight and the queue stretched far from the station into a residential area, trapping some residents in their driveways, said police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz.

That led to fights and arrests for disorderly conduct. In one case, three officers were sent to a hospital as a precaution because they were spattered with blood from someone's bloodied nose, Schwartz said.

The two crashes apparently occurred when queued-up motorists tried to let friends into line, Schwartz said.

"Any time you offer free gas when it is $3 a gallon, it is not surprising people would get excited," she said.

Allstate gave away a tanker truck load of gasoline as a reward to Milwaukee for ranking No. 1 among mid-sized cities on its safe drivers list. The insurance company gave free gas to more than 700 motorists, said company official Bill Mellander.

The giveaway lasted a couple of hours, Schwartz said.

Clarence Jefferson said he thought he'd be first in line when he got there at 4 a.m. – but found hundreds of others already ahead of him. Pumps were turned on at about 6 a.m.

"It doesn't matter," he said. "It helps. Every bit is worth it."

$2.799 here. But you all just wait till the Gulf gets its first major hurricane. Even worse would be two of them. Then we're looking at $4.00/gal in most places.

Oil closed at $76.70 a barrel, a new record high. In addition to the war in Israel and Lebanon, there was explosions on a Nigerian Pipeline, and Venezuela's oil refinery is halting distribution of Petrol at 1,900 stations in the U.S.
