You can find spanish-speaking people pretty much everywhere in the US. You will tend to find the largest concentrations of spanish-speaking people in the southwest and Florida, though.

A little Spanish is not all bad.

While listening to the choir performing Adeste Fideles (O Come, All Ye Faithful) in Latin, I realized, it actually sounded like Spanish. Now, in print, it isn't so obvious, but it sounds like Spanish.

Because I'm pretty sure my wife says "ben" meaning 'come here' to our kids, and well, sound out the lyrics and see if it doesn't sound like Spanish.

Adeste Fideles laeti triumphantes;
Venite, venite in Bethlehem;
Natum videte regem angelorum:

Refrain:
Venite, adoremus,
Venite, adoremus,
Venite, adoremus,
Venite, adoremus, dominum!

Spanish is the closest living language to pure Latin. Italian is also very close.

If I recall, there is a Hispanic population in St. Bernard Parish.

For sure....outgoing St Bernard Parish (Louisiana) president was Henry Rodriguez.

Here in Mississippi I would almost bet the number at 1.4% could easily be doubled.
