my bill for august was 135 for a 2 bedroom apartment.......not to bad.......and i keep my thermostat at 77.

Does your electric company offer a equal payment plan or am the only one here that uses it? My bill is a flat $90.00 payment every month with Progress Energy (60.00/mo with PSNC - natural gas). I think last year PSNC ending up owing me money at the end of the "cycle" and reduced the first bill of the new cycle.

Well hot dog, I never knew that exsisted, makes sense after all. I have Progress Energy too, I wonder if they offer here in C.FL .........bout to go find out.

Equal Payment Plan

The Equal Payment Plan (EPP) is designed by Progress Energy Carolinas to ease the impact of higher seasonal electric bills for residential customers by spreading bills into 12 equal monthly payments. EPP helps you plan ahead by letting you know exactly what your monthly payments will be. It does not lower or raise your annual electric bill.


How It Works:

Progress Energy adds your monthly bills for the last 12 months (current month and previous 11 months). If a 12-month history is not available, Progress Energy will estimate the annual billing for you.

At the end of 12 months, we will review your account to see if your EPP amount needs to be increased or decreased. The year-end balance (debit or credit) will be included in the calculation to determine the new EPP amount. We will notify you by letter approximately one month in advance if your EPP amount needs to be modified.

The requirements for remaining on the plan are simple: payments must be made for the EPP amount listed on the bill when due. Should payments not be made as mentioned, your account is subject to removal from the Equal Payment Plan.

Any advance payments made while on the EPP program will be applied directly to your account balance. It will not lower your next month's EPP amount.

I like the EPP. It makes easier to budget monthly expenses. It is another bill that I don't have to estimate every month. I think the only utility left I have to estimate anymore is the water bill. EPP also spreads the pain of higher electric bills in the summer (lower bills in the winter) and higher gas bills in the winter (almost zero in summer -- highest bill in the summer was 25.00 dollars) over 12 months.

My electric bill (1200 sf house, thermostat set to 78) runs from about $50 in January and February to almost $200 in August and September. I won't do the EPP because I hate loaning money to people interest-free!

I have a 3 bedroom house, and a pool, so my pump runs daily also, I keep the AC on 78, and run 3 ceiling fans non stop, my bill was 212.00 for the last bill, not to bad for my size house, and it's about 90-100 a month in winter.

I have a 1700 sq.ft. house here in Houston and I always have someone home, my hubby works nights, and I have the a/c set on 77 and my last bill was 321.00... I did notice that I just recently changed the lightbulbs in the house to those energy saver ones, and over the past 4 months, my bill has steadily dropped about 10-15$ per bill!! I also have Cirro energy, which is cheaper than Reliant... I hate Reliant... I also have all electric, no gas.... I hate being an adult and paying bills!!!

Mine was $55 last month. Running 2 AC's to keep my trailer cool and comfy ran it up a bit. During the summer its usually $45 or so.

Mine was $80 - normal for summer time really.

I don't do the levelized billing because in the summer my electric bill is high and gas is low, but in the winter my gas goes high due to gas heat and my electric goes low. If I had it leveled for the same each month, I would be paying alot in the winter when my gas is so darn high too (had a $512 gas bill last winter).

Our bill through Sept 5 was $264. I have a 4 bedroom house and keep the air conditioning set at 74. We do tend to open the windows a lot even if the temps are in the mid-80's, but the humidity and dewpoints are low. We have been relatively fortunate this summer to have had quite a few of those days.

Last year I know we had at least one bill for over $300.

We do have gas heat, so our dryer runs on that.

Our bill was $134.00 for a 3-bedroom house with the thermostat set at 78°F.
It does get eased down to 76°F at night, though. I love to sleep covered up
head-and-ears in the cool!

I just had to check my bill after reading this - it was just under $50.00 for August. I am definitely never going to complain about my electric bill (I will still remind my kids to turn the darn lights off when they leave their rooms though!). I reserve the right to complain about my natural gas bill during the winter though - that's what kills my budget!

that doesn't include my gas for my dryer, stove and water heater.

Last months total bill was $283.03

I get separate bills for electricity, garbage, and water... all from different companies.

Most recent elec. - $364.26

Garbage - similar to yours... lower $20's per month

Water - usually between $70 & $80 per month, occasionally a little lower, rarely any higher.
