Jonathan, my heart goes out to you. Ten years is a lot of time, love and devotion. Your heart must be breaking and I'm sending you lots of ((HUGS)) and prayers. I've learned cognative therapy for depression and it works so well for me. It's re-thinking negative thoughts. If you can find some literature on it, I'll bet it will help.

Give the medication time. Usually anti-depressants have to "build up" in your system before your feel the full affect of them.

Best of luck with your talk with Tony.

We talked wednesday and pretty much agreed that we both need space for right now. He came over and fed the cats when I was at Mary's for the 4th. He didn't wanna take anything so I guess thats a good sign. Thanks for all your thoughts and Prayers...Keep them coming (((hugs)))

Thanks, He was really shocked at how calm I was, I think it was hard for him to be here and we actually communicated better then we have in a long time.

Some times you do need a break, especially when you're going through an emotionally turbulent time.

I'm glad that the talk went well. :)

Good luck with the zoloft ... I would've tried St. Johns Wort first, since it's OTC, but whatever works for you - sometimes psychoactive medication is very individualistic.

Best wishes for your relationship! :)

The zoloft seems to be working, I am feeling less edgy. If I don't like the zoloft I will try the st johns wart... Tony and I are talking and he says he misses me and that he is going to think about things for a few days. We will see what happens..Thanks for all the Prayers and well wishes (((HUGS)))

Be sure you check with your doctor before quitting the Zolofft and/or taking St. John's Wort. The two don't mix, and you shouldn't quit cold turkey.

I hope you feel better. Being depressed, or being with someone who's depressed is well, really depressing!

Tony will be home in a couple of days. He and I decided to try and work things out. I am on zoloft for my ocd and I think that may help. Thanks for all the well wishes and Prayers. I love you all. :D

Many antidepressants are used for ocd as well. It will hopefully provide a double benefit for you.

I echo what others said above. Just make sure you consult your doctor on any medications and changes that you want to make.

I'm glad that Tony wants to work things out. Best of luck to the two of you! :D

The most important thing is to feel comfortable with your doctor's knowledge of medications. A lot of general practicioners prescribe anti-depressants without really knowing how individual ones differ. By the way, I'm an LCSW working with chronically mentally ill adults, and our psychiatrist is very knowledgeable; that's why I'm offering advice here! Anyway, all the SSRI's work slightly differently from one another, and there are some that have specific secondary benefits for OCD, so make sure the doctor who is prescribing it for you is up on the latest anti-depressant medications. I would suggest going to a psychiatrist for at least an initial visit, and then you can get your PCP to prescribe what works for you. In my experience, general practicioners don't really keep up with the latest; they have their hands full keeping up with other things.

My sister and My Mom take zoloft and it's helping so I will stick with it. Thanks for the info though.
