I remember back in the mid to late 80s that Bob was away for awhile and someone else hosted the show..... just wondering of the show itself will stop. It would be a shame, as it has been so successful. It will not be the same without Bob though, thats for sure.

The show will go on next season. The current front runners for the job are:

Todd Newton

Mark Steines

If those 3 are the front runners.. I hope Todd Newton gets it.. Newtons a great host.. I've watched him when he did "Whammy" or "Hollywood Showdown" on the Game Show Network..

CBS has the door open for more auditions.

Also, Barker has offered to return as host for part of season 36 if a host is not found by then.

This may mean absolutely nothing, but I'm watching today's TPIR right now and CBS ran a promo naming Mario Lopez and Bob Barker as having something in common for the Daytime Emmy Awards next Friday... Rosie coming to The View was announced last year at them.

Things that make you go hmmmm....

Mario Lopez has also been named as a possible successor.

He's reportedly the frontrunner, his name was mentioned before any of the others. But he already does Extra and will be doing a new show on The CW, so I'm not sure how this will work(right now Price tapes 5 episodes in 4 days), but Wheel of Fortune tapes a week of shows in one day, so they could change the schedule I think.

First day of Bob's final week:

A $100k prize was offered!!! On the daytime show!!!! Amazing. Unfortunately, it was lost.

$10,000 win on Punch-a-Bunch! :cheesy:

$1,000 won on the big wheel.

INCREDIBLE bids on the showcase... first one was only about $800 away but the second was only $46 away and won BOTH showcases! :D

and the first of the winners of the 15-second Bob Barker tribute on YouTube aired(which I thought was really good), as well as a promo for the final show.

A Hollywood publication has reported that George Hamilton has been selected as the new host.

This is apparently debunked by the fact that a new candidate has been announced. Mark DeCarlo has been scheduled for an audition this week.

Yay, as I was looking at the pics of the candidates I was thinking he was best suited. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind looking at Mark Steines everyday but really he doesn't fit the bill like Hamilton does.

What about Hamilton's vocal style? Is it suited for this? I haven't followed any of this but that question came to mind. To me the delivery is at least half the equation in a game show like this.

He will be 68 in August, IMO he's too old. They need to look for someone at least 10-15 years younger.

Check him out in this commercial. He obviously has a good sense of humor. His voice sounds nice, and he just seems to fit to me, not sure why but he does.

Yes he did, after he thanked the viewers for all their support over 50 years. You can see a clip from his first show, highlights from the entire run, and the opening(over music), and closing(with no music) of his final episode in this tribute. The confetti at the beginning was nice(and was thrown again during the calldown before the 5th game). The show reairs at 8pm ET/PT.

The first game played on the first show in 1972... Any Number(for a Chevy Vega priced at $2,700)

The last game played today... Any Number(for a Ford Explorer priced at $26,850). Amazing.
