More than doubled Charles Whitman's number of victims as well as Columbine.

Yes Duckie, I remember us having at least on VT student as a member. I wish I could remember who it was!!!

To say the least prayers going out for ALL that are having to deal with this. What a horrible, senseless tragedy.

I know the university here doesn't have any metal detectors or anything like that if that's what you're talking about, miamiensiswx. Alot of colleges & universities are on such a tight budget that they're not able to afford anything like that.

Fox news has some pictures, including a couple of pics of someone they handcuffed.

This is sad news indeed :(. My thoughts (I'm not religious, so no prayers from me) are with the victims and their families.

However I for one am not going to jump on the 'we need gun control now' bandwagon, because it really wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference, just like it made no difference in the UK after Dunblane in '97. Gun crime in the UK is currently at an all time high.

Also, I will honestly not be 100% suprised if this gets painted as a terrorist attack by at least one person. I'm not going to say it myself, but it's not impossible.

And Feederband, so much for freedom of the press, eh?

Lets just stick with your thoughts on the victims and families for now.

As far as the reporter being cuffed -- it was probably for his safety if he was trying to go somewhere where he could have been in the line of fire.

I don't mean to sound like a perfectionist, but isn't it 22 not 32 that are dead.. or has the number skyrocketed again..

My own thoughts.. I NEVER EVER thought we'd have a school incident worse than Columbine, and this dwarfs Columbine in so many levels..

Prayers for all those @ VT.. and btw.. VT needs 2 GET SOME BETTER SECURITY! Just my 2 cents..

BLACKSBURG, Va. - A gunman opened fire in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech on Monday, killing at least 30 people in the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history, government officials told The Associated Press. The gunman was killed, bringing to death toll to 31, but it was unclear if he was shot by police or took his own life.

Charles Whitman (a lone gunman) killed more people than Klebold and Harris.
