Curious, how did you manage to fall in, did you look before you sat down? If not, why not look first?

You know men probably just put the lid down before sitting down. Probably so automatic, that it's a habit that's ingrained but all we have to do is hypnotize them, have them sit down with the lid up and make it 3 a.m., on a cold Winter's night.......see if they like it! You feel like your legs are coming up from under you and then you feel the water on your rear. NOT a pleasant experience - at all! Then you're wet, cold, in a terrible mood and trying to pee at the same time. And get back to bed, where it's warm and cozy. Next to the lug who left the seat up in the first place! That accidental kick, or covers yanked - not so accidental sometimes....he he.
And let's not even mention how they dribble and miss the bowl, having to wash the rug, again. When it wasn't really dirty in the first place! Grrrr.....no, we'd better not go there!

That's why one should always LOOK before one sits down on the toilet seat. We men have to sit down too in certain situations, if we are expected to look at the position of the seat before using the toilet either way, why can't ladies also look?
One could reasonably make the same argument about ladies leaving the seat down after using it instead of raising it for the men that are going to possibly need it up later. Best solution is for everyone to always look at the toilet seat, and make necessary adjustments, prior to attempting to sit down (or go standing up_. Just a variation of look before you leap.

I've always wondered what the big deal was about the toilet seat.
Now Mary, about the "accidents" etc., that is a plumbing problem that isn't necessarily our fault.

The only reason women don't look when they sit down on the toilet is because they expect it to be already done for them... geesh... I thought men were the lazy ones.
Seriously, though, I've forgotten to look many times and suddenly realize it when I sit down but I've never ended up in the toilet or with a wet butt.

Now I know you guys have gotten up still half asleep and not necessarily looked before you wizzed. And I am sure you have wizzed with the seat down too. Its second nature to go and do your business. Our backs are toward the toilet yours are not. I have not fallen in recentley but did as a kid several times. I think it is a thing that happens more when we girls are kids and don't think about stuff like that yet.
And the whole thing with the toilet seat is.... its just nasty to look at. Walk in and see pee around the rim of a toilet is just nasty, and half the time you guys don't flush either so its a bowl full of urine as well as around the rim. I hate to go in to use the bathroom and see that. It is just nasty.

OTown, do you walk backwards all the way to the toilet or do you turn around when you arrive at the toilet? Why not look at the seat while you are walking toward the seat? You can also turn on the light, I always do so I can see what I'm doing, even if going when half asleep. The light is uncomfortable but It enables me to see whether or not the seat needs to be raised/lowered, based on what I need to do. Is it unreasonable to expect the same from the ladies (namely looking before you go)?

I think most of us here said as kids we fell in. Yes I look before I go, and no I don't walk backwards. Duh. Do you wipe your pee off the rim each time you decide to leave it up? I highly doubt it. Then I think you shut the dern lid so we don't have to look at were you guys missed your mark. Personally I think men should sit while taking a leak like us girls do then it would not be so messy. That is why I don't like the seat up, not because I walk backwards and could fall in. Not worried about falling in, just don't like to look at urine everytime I enter the bathroom.

We all clean our bathrooms on a regular basis (at least speaking for myself, hoping others do the same). My whole point to the toilet seat up or down thing, was that women always complain about men leaving it up, yet they aren't expected to raise the toilet seat for our use. Men don't complain about women leaving the toilet seat down when we need to pee, we just make necessary adjustments , how about instead of starting an argument with a man about it can't women simply lower the seat when they need it down?
As to us sitting when taking a leak, since you're a woman you've never experienced trying to urinate when the plumbing you use for doing so is stiff as a board and pointing in the opposite direction to the toilet (ie: it's pointing at the celing while the toilet is on the floor)
