I thought I would always like the daylight savings extended, but now on Halloween in 2007 it will still be light at 8:00 when we usually take the kids out. Breaking tradition. Halloween is always the big time change day. I'll be sad to see that part go. But Loving it in March. Thanks arkess for bringing this up.

No it won't be light at 8. What time does the sun set now? 7:30pm? It'll be about 7:00pm by the time Halloween rolls around.
Yes, usually on Halloween when we typically fall back an hour we could go out a little after 8:00 p.m. But now we wont be fallling back till Nov.4 , so we will have to wait till a little after 9 before it will be dark enough to feel like Halloween should feel. For all the ghosts and goblins, like cajunmama stated. It doesn't get dark till around 8 now the sun may set at 7:30 but that doesn't mean it is dark yet, it usually takes a half hour or so after sunset before it is "truley" dark.

I come down on the side of eliminating Daylight Savings Time, and simply staying on Standard Time year around. My reason is because I don't see any useful purpose to DST in today's society.

Peeps who enjoy an extra hour of gardening, jogging, fishing, etc., in the evening hours.

Saves money on energy costs. 8-) That's the main reason Congress extended it.

Enjoy your gardening as much as you like, just don't ask me to get out of bed an hour earlier for you to do so. I'm not a morning person so I am inclined to be against setting our clocks forward.

This means nothing to my pirate crew. We go by sun time in the frothy sea.

Let's see. While pushing on the SEEK button, hold down key number 4 for seven seconds. When the light begins to flash, hold th SCAN button in your right hand and the volume button in the other. You now have three seconds in which you can change the hour of the day on your digital clock.....etc. etc. etc.

Next time buy a chevy, one button. I knew there was a reason they were cheaper!!

With the way TXU Electric and Gas here keeps raising it's rates it won't matter if your ST or DST you wont be able to afford the cost anyway. Since Texas De-regulated it's Electric Utilities the cost per monthly bill has gone up an avg of $60 over the 3 years, and they are asking for another 12% rate hike in December and another 12% in January, that would increase the avg monthly Electric Bill by $15 per hike.

CaptinCrunch wrote:The thought of DST being able to save energy is BS, IMO.....The longer you try to extend the day light the longer your AC will run in the summer months, the more you'll drive you car (more people drive in the daytime vs night) your electric use is really higher than what it would be for ST just for the fact more people are up and doing more things.

The main thing is Daylight til later=Light not needed in your house.
