My 2 cents: If the object is spherical, that would argue for planetary status. That would indicate a planet-like genesis. All the pictures I've seen of Pluto are spherical (or maybe they're all just artists renderings). IMO any object that's irregular would be an asteroid or kuiper belt object.

This space for rent.
One more thing that needs to be side. We will discover a planet soon that is thrown from its solar system. By a Jupiter type world pushing it out of the solar system. Or the planet just being thrown. A floating world out in space. So by saying that it has to be around a star it is not a planet is unsmart. In also will not last long in the books at the rate we are finding/discovering things.
In another thing is the surface of this new world might be unreflecting. In which they said even if it was making its own light or 100 percent rereflecting it would be as big as Pluto if not bigger. Thats saying that they don't have a good idea at the size. We can debate this when we know the facts.
When Pluto was discovered they thought it was bigger then Mercury. But then they discovered it was much smaller. I think they will discover the other way around with this.
If the Spitzer can see 100 of light years out why on earth can't see this?

They are finding smaller planets.

Also if a planet is this small how can they be made out of Gas. Doe's that go against something. I would expect these are rocky planets.
