Well, I just got home from ICU. His night nurse gave me a lot of info....his blood pressure is stable, but........his oxygen is still not good, he was a little more aware today he smiled at me twice (that made me feel good)but tonight I noticed bright red blood in his NG tube and I was told he is going down to catscan again tomorrow am to see if the ulcer perforated again and if it did he will need more surgery. Needless to say I'm a little flamboozled...his fever is staying at 101 and they were hoping to wean him but not yet and now this.
I'll know more tomorrow afternoon, I call the hospital at 8AM then I go and see him when visiting hours start.
Will update more then.
Thank you for the prayers

Mary, I continue to keep both you and your husband in my prayers.
Although every case is different because every person is different, during my husband's episode of peritonitis, his oxygen levels were unstable and poor to low, too -- for at least a week after he was off the ventilator. Also, his fever remained over 100 for nearly 3 weeks. However, he did not have a perforated ulcer.
I am praying that Ed's doctors will soon find the right antibiotic(s) to eliminate the infection and will quickly stop any more hemorrhaging or other complications.
Please keep us posted at S2K -- and please let your nearby family and friends do anything they offer so that you can focus positively on wholeness and strength for Ed and yourself.

Welp, where do I start......talked to the intensevist today and saw his xrays since day 1 and looked at his cat scans and read his chart (being in the medical field sucks sometimes)he might need more surgery, they are going to do a cat scan tomorrow am to see if an abcess has developed in his belly. His abdomen is distended, the incision is red (the incision is huge)his fever won't break, still between 101-103, and everything else is the same and oh yeah he's in "guarded but stable" condition. Tot op it all off my day job emails me paperwork to fill oput for family medical leave and the nite job emails me to ask me to do ot! ACK! (this is in another thread). Anyway, I'm going to my day job tomorrow from 5-10 so I can go to ICU at 11 (it's an hour drive)At least the Master Sargent is understanding, he didn't want me to come in, but I told him I have no PTO left.
Thank you for your prayers, they are keeping me from pulling my hair running screaming into the night.

Mary...just normal life has mean running around and pulling my hair out! No one will notice if you go in the closet and scream!
And when you come out, just remember we're just around the corner, just out of sight....helping the two of you get through this.
Peace...even just a little at a time.
Steve
