I'm in high school, and I don't sag... but this is total bull crap. This is a free country... you can't tell us how to dress. Some schools already have a dress code, which is so wrong already.

I disagree with this, and hope no action is taken.

In the 60's it was the hippie look. Remember the long hair, beads, tie dye, no bras, etc. to show rebellion?

In the 70's it was the punk look with mohawks, Doc Martens, etc to show rebellion.

In the 90's it was the grunge look to show rebellion.

I'll bet that some of the posters above been there and done that. Anyone seeing a pattern?

Personally I think that the low slung pants are stupid. Can't they come up with a better statement? I must be turning into an old fart. At least they're wearing bras.

Great reply Coriolis! I think this is just a horrific "fashion statement" started by hip-hop artists and MTV! OF COURSE our young people are going to pick up on it!

Don't get me wrong.....I am SO tired of seeing hips and arsses.....both guy and gal undies......and often attitudes that mimic what they see on TV. WHO'S IN CHARGE?!?!? Administrators come up with rules....nobody seems to enforce them.

The "status" thing for the last year seems to be to show the top of the thong undies.....also dark bras under light blouses that plunge VERY low......(How do these kids pay attention to "studies" anyway?!?)

This spring, admin. is collecting big ugly used t-shirts to hand out to those kids who come in dressed inappropriately....I've been handing out safety-pins for years with instructions to "pull 'em up, close it up, or get your books and go up front"!!!

It all boils down to the same thing in any given situation.....somebody is allowing it to continue........p

Ed? What...no listing of rebellion in the 80's? :)

Let's see, what was it -- ripped Flashdance-inspired shirts on the girls, one glove for the guys, multiple Rosaries (gee, thanks, Madonna), and loosely-worn neckties on both guys and girls. Honestly though, I wouldn't consider much of that a rebel look as much as I would consider it the strange style of the times.

*scratching head*

But why...LOL...why did we do it?

The 60's, for me, meant bell-bottoms, harness boots and balloon-sleeve shirts...70's, uniforms (USAF/police)...80's, three-piece suits. 90's were a time of jeans and Western shirts, and now, it's a hodge-podge of cargo pants and "safari" shirts and jackets. Still looking for a decent, affordable pair of military/tactical boots, though.

LOL! Yeah!

For me, it was the preppy look in the early 80's and neon preppy in the mid 80's. Then, on to college where it was jeans and polo shirts or college sweatshirts. And of course, any one of my collection of sweaters in the winter.

I'm still pretty much an L.L. Bean conservative preppy type of dresser. But for gosh sake's, please don't let the multiple neon colors/Punky Brewster look come back!
