I'm sorry, but whenever this topic comes up, I NEVER SEE any of the people that are on the bandwagon for overturning it bring this up. That statement of "one night of fun" sounded like that was the ONLY reason why women would choose an abortion and that it insinuates to me that that woman is a sl*t.

Not what I meant though Steph. And IMO anytime you have an unmarried woman out in a bar and leaves with a man is a night of fun. That is what I am talking about with the night of fun statement. But you said rape not fun or the other part.

I do not know of any married couples that would choose to abort their baby. So my comment was justified.

that's quite ok GD....

Steph....the reason Liberals always need to bring up the "what if she was raped" scenario is that is the only way they can make themselves feel better about the murder of a child. I don't think it has anything to do with concern for that poor victim of crime.

If you want to get down to the nitty gritty about abortion, lets put that extremely small percentage of rape and incest (the poor young teen doesn't get the free pass in my book)aside, and look at the hardcore facts that the rest of these woman (AND their partners) have made irresponsible decisions, in exchange for a few hours of pleasure.

There is absolutely no reason why these babies could not be carried to term, delivered alive, and if not claimed by the birth mother, then there are thousands of adoptive parents waiting for a baby to love.

I apologize Lindaloo - and I agree that I can't think of any married couple wanting to abort their child - perhaps health?

j - believe me, as a liberal, I HAVE CONCERN for that victim. Do not lump me or anyone else in a specific category. Once again, we have the left versus right, conservative versus liberal, etc. What's it like to walk around with blinders on?

While everyone is doing ok so far, let's just remember this is a hot issue with most folks. Let's make sure we do this the S2K way... :-)

I know what I would do. Even if I was raped, as hard as that would be, it still does not give me the right to kill my baby. With that said, like duckie pointed out, we're only talking about 1% of abortions being a result of rape. Fine, I'd like some progress. Though I'd like to see abortion illegal in all situations, I'm realisitic and would like to at least see progress. How about illegal except in cases of rape or incest? (for now) That is 99% of abortions.

Yep, and they don't realize how the rest of their lives will be affected by that bad decision. I have read story after story about a life of depression, drug/alcohol abuse, etc. only to discover the root of it all later.....they come to terms with the fact that they killed their baby. It's a very sad situation. A baby is dead and the mother lives with horrible guilt. How can this be a good thing? :-?

I can live with that (for now), as probably 99% of Conservatives out there could also. We know this is not a perfect world we live in, but nothing wrong with reducing the amount of murdered babies out there.

Would you like to take bets on the likely percentage of "choice" proponents that would agree to that?

How about illegal if it's used as a form of birth control. Yes a 14-15-16 year old girl doesn't need to be having sex, but she also doesn't need to have a kid either..

What if there is a possibility either Mom or child could be killed during child birth..?

Of course in rapes or incests it shouldn't be illegal either..

The only form of abortion I am against completely is if it's a birth control way. Young mom's {teenagers} don't need to have children, and Mom's or children don't need to possibly be killed because of the child birth {that does happen on occasion}

A woman is allowed to choose whether to kill her baby. The thing nobody seems to get is that the woman does live with the consequences till she dies. I personally believe that is enough suffering for the woman..

I think Roe v. Wade is fine as it stands, although I'd like to see partial birth abortions made illegal.

Then she shouldn't be taking that risk by having sex!!!

Josephine96 wrote:What if there is a possibility either Mom or child could be killed during child birth..?

Again, very rare instances does this come about. Put this with the cases of rape/incest and you're still looking at less than 1 1/2% of abortions. Me.....I'd give my life to save the life of my child - no doubt about it.

Josephine96 wrote:Of course in rapes or incests it shouldn't be illegal either..

Once again, only 1% of abortions are due to rape or incest. I already covered what I would do if I was raped.

A woman is allowed to choose whether to kill her baby? Don't you find it strange that if you give birth and stuff your newborn baby in a garbage can and leave him/her to die, that's murder in the eyes of the law, but a few weeks earlier, it's perfectly legal. hmmm
Nope, no woman should have the right to kill her baby. It's just insane.
The woman living with consequences and suffering doesn't bring back that baby. Why kill the baby and then justify it by saying, "Well, the woman has to live with it. That's enough suffering." Gee, why do we have prisons then? Let's just let everyone live with their mistakes.

I think that they already are and for the life of me I never understood the reasoning for that procedure.

SG - that is a good point. I believe that there are woman out there that have made a mistake and then those like Josephine said that have used it as a form of "birth control" :grrr: In my opinion, those women shouldn't even be able to pro-create.

It's all about the woman....what about the baby? Any consideration and/or sympathy for him/her?
