Blizzard - yes it is amazing to me how the demeanor of the staff makes all the difference in the world. When I notice we have appts. coming up my youngest is so excited. I asked her once why - she said oh I get a new toothbrush, floss and a toy. Laura is 13 now and still feels this way! I think she'll want a toy until she's 18.....LOL

I hate that drill sound. With all of you there.

Dennis - I have chipped teeth easily too. Bagel chips, sugar daddy suckers and get this a tall necked beer bottle once. I was out with friends and the next round of beers were tall necks. Previous was short. I'm talking, raising the bottle to my mouth, not really paying attention and wham - chip a tooth. I asked everyone to check - hey is my front tooth chipped? It wasn't, they said. It was dark club. he he Later I checked and yes indeedy, I took a small chunk out. Very tiny but there. It bugged me for days until the Dentist could see me. He just filed it down. Asked me how it happened.....this was when soda came in glass bottles. So I fibbed and said it was a pepsi bottle. LOL It was like confessing to my dad.....I just couldn't tell him I was partying in a bar.......LOL

Oh Ticka, I feel I should mention I took the gas WITH novacaine also for my root canal. I could never just have gas, I'd have to the other too.

J - cracked up at your description of cleanings!!!! I had a hygenist like your wife once, and only once. She was scraping away as if my teeth were concrete. This was after easily chipping them on candy, chips and the beer bottle. I'm like - hey, those are my teeth ya know....not some sidewalk. I made sure I had her name after that visit. And I've made sure I never get her again!!!

well.....my point was, and I don't think I made it :)...if it doesn't hurt, its because they are not getting down under the gum line where the periodontal disease begins. Pain is a good thing, at least when it comes to cleanings.

Now don't get the wrong idea...I'm not a Masochist!

j - this hygenist had to stand with feet far apart and was scraping so hard she almost went right into my cheek. I did say then and there - is all of this REALLY necessary? My hygenist now gets the job done but not at my expense. With the first one I couldn't drink anything hot for 2 weeks. And even anything, liquid or solid was painful to attempt. Now that's just going too far. I'll see her when I come in and just smile at her - like yeah you're the one I'll never go to lady. I will cancel if they ever accidentally book me with her.

Something tells me your wife doesn't clean teeth THAT way!

LOL to Miss Mary about not wanting to admit your partying to your dentist. Reminds me of a wedding I attended a few years ago. One of our old babysitters, who now works for our dentist got married. We partied with the whole Dental staff that evening. We still talk about things like that when I am in the chair.

I also see my Hygenist out on the weekends quite often. Great people they are.
