I can relate to a fear of heights. I am somewhat leeary of that. We have a 2 story family room. We painted it 5 years ago. Hubby did the majority of roller work, with an extended pole and then a two story ladder. I'm much better with trim and we had heard if you leave a bead of white ceiling paint along the very top of your walls, it will be a straighter line than if you actually take your brush and go along the ceiling line. Since that seam isn't always straight anyway. So here I was with this sponge trimmer thingy, doing my straight edge. Our kids were younger then, more in the playful stage. I'm 2 stories up, hubby holding the ladder. Kids run up from the basement and yell - MOM!!!! I just about panicked.......I said get me down, they're gonna grab the ladder and I'll fall. Jim was yelling at them - can't you see you're worrying your mom - go outside or back downstairs.......you almost have to pretend you're not 2 floors up. You keep a sure fitting and get the work done. Come back down very slowly. I'm always glad when I get back on the floor. I kept thinking though back then - okay, tell me again how much money we're saving by doing this job ourselves? LOL

I am sorry to hear that you have gone through all of these terrible things, Dawn. I lost my mother to cancer 17 years ago. I will say a prayer for your mother.

I have no fear of heights, creepy crawlies or needles for that matter.

I am TERRIFIED of falling. That split second that you're in the air- heading down in free fall is enough to make me hyperventilate and start crying even once I've got both feet on the ground. The thought of it is creepy.

BUT I'm at my happiest when I'm on top of the world- looking down. I love ladders, climb scaffolding like a monkey and have no problem dangling with just a rope from the ceiling of a theatre. As long as there's no chance at all that I'm going to fall. If there's even a remote chance- I'm a sobbing wreck on the ground floor. :) Needless to say there are some rollar coasters I just can't ride without losing my lunch!

i guess my two biggest fears are: getting old, not that i am not already old, but to see ppl not being able to get around and ect. the next is my kids,
i have a 15 year old, getting ready to get her permit, this scares me, my kids getting hurt or sick and i cant do anything about it. i am a homeschool mom, it scares me that i wont be around to finish the job. i guess i have 3 or 4. another one is rodents. i hate these things.

I'm with you, Ed. I have to have something to hold on to at the top. I can climb trees because of all the branches. My other biggest fear is that someone else in my family will die before I move back to NC.
