"LOST" Thread - Part 2

We're hanging in there still. I won't give up on this show but I am annoyed with this new schedule.
Afterall, NBC wised up and granted ER a full season, no hiatus. Of course that network isn't doing so well.....
Hiatus-shiamatus - I don't like them! In the past, we would lose track of shows that seemed to just disappear from the schedule. I would miss an announcement online or before a commercial break. Of course these were not Top 10 shows but they had a following: Yes, Dear, King of Queens (have no idea where that shows stands currently), Out of Practice (eventually cancelled), Still Standing (same, cancelled). I know I won't miss any Lost announcements....but still, I have to wonder if the writers have LOST their minds here!

Tonight's episode left us with so many more questions. And yet, still very few answers. Even if we get an answer, to a question not even stated - for instance, Juliet revealing she's a Fertility Doctor (huh? I must have missed the college tour? Did she get her degree by correspondence?) - it leaves us more confused. And dare I say it - lost. This is what the writers want I guess. To pose so many new questions and not supply any answers?
My main comments about tonight's show can be summed up by spoilers, so don't scroll down if you haven't watched yet:

A Fertility Doctor?
Two islands?
No pacemaker? (Oh, Thank You God!)
A bucket of water and sponge and that's a bath?
Kate telling Sawyer to turn around.....LOL.....you knew he would look!
No working crash cart.....so, that pretty much tells us they are not in contact with the rest of the world. Just dandy.
Is Lost still in my personal Top 5 Must See Shows each week? It is, but barely.

Probably is an OB/GYN that specializes in human fertility issues. Remember the Dharma Intiative is involved in human genetics and human fertility issues probably falls under that. Also if you were following the Lost Experience, Dharma was planning for the end of the world.
Two islands?
Believable. Explains the need for the boat in last season's finale.
No pacemaker? (Oh, Thank You God!)
Out-conned the conman

Think about people waiting for Season 6 of 24. It doesn't start until January.

That was actually one of the possibilties mentioned in the leadup to Upfronts in May. That'll probably be the next experiment if this one fails(people endlessly complained last year, they had to do something different). It's likely only got 2 seasons, maybe 3 at the most, left anyway.

Had to laugh at the teaser, of a "big" secret. As if we have one burning question....how about 92 questions...or 278....or let's use the lottery numbers and add them all up together. I know, I know...I sound disappointed with this season. Never did I think I would either! Not with Lost. You just hoped and assumed the writers knew what the heck they were doing. Sure seems like they don't have a clue, at times. My daughter is now comparing Ben to Darth Vader. Saying we hated Darth, but he was necessary to the story. So I guess she's trying to get me to see that Ben is vital to this story......this jury is still out on that one!
For a few brief scenes last night, I actually wondered if Juliet is the others leader and they're trying to make Jack believe Ben is. She displayed possible complete and total power, in dialogue with Jack, but then quickly covered it up, by obeying Ben.
Remember, the others are devious, sneaky and well, I'm sorry, but evil. They are not good!

Desmond made a lightning rod to keep the flash from hitting Claires shelter. Remember he told her that her place needed to be fixed. Can someone who DVR'ed this episode tell me what did you see at the very end of the preview for the next 2 shows. Something appeared on the tv screen and those looking at it appeared to jump back. Thanks. Overall, I liked this episode especially when they conned Sawyer.

It was a man, wearing an eye patch. We rewound it three times. At first I swear it looked like an alien or someone wearing a spooky Halloween mask. After our third time viewing it, it was a man wearing an eye patch and he was very close to the camera. Which would explain why the image is distorted.
I have my DVR recording edited now, to run 3 minutes longer. If you don't edit your timer, you miss the last 1 minute of each episode and then the previews.

Ask Ausiello Column (excerpts for Lost-related questions)
Wednesday, November 1, 2006
Question: Consider me an Aushole. Now please give me a hint as to who bites the dust on Lost tonight. Not an asterisk hint either; they drive me crazy.— Eva
Ausiello: This person is not an Other. Or female.
Question: Why is everyone on Lost so worried about polar bears and Henry Gale? What about the kids who were taken, um, last year.— Baude
Ausiello: Don't worry, they haven't been forgotten. Speaking of those children, what kind of doctor did Juliet say she was last week? Oh, that's right — a fertility doctor.
Question: Any idea what the significance of the title "Not in Portland" is for Lost's first episode after the break?— Jason M. Wolf
Ausiello: Considering it's a Juliet flashback episode, I'm guessing Portland holds some significance for her.
Question: It is so nice to see some of the gals from Deadwood turning up on Lost! And now Powers Boothe is going to be on 24!— Joseph
Ausiello: They're everywhere! I couldn't believe it when Trixie and Joanie showed up in the same Lost episode last week. (Can a cameo by Mr. Wu be far behind?) I just hope all the main players will be available when the time comes to shoot those upcoming Deadwood movies, which, according to Variety, David Milch has already started penning for an early summer start.
Question: Did Sun kill Jae on Lost?— Troy
Ausiello: No. In their latest Lost podcast, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confirmed that Sun's boy-on-the-side did in fact commit suicide. (Pay up, Dan Manu.) Damon and Carlton also teased that widower Pickett "might" seek some vengeance on Sun for killing Trixie, er, Colleen, and that Episode 10 is a Hurley flashback.
Question: I work in your building, on the 28th floor. Doesn't this qualify as reason enough for you to spill the beans on the major Lost death tonight?— Dave
Ausiello: OK, but not here. Head downstairs to Au Bon Pain at exactly 3 pm today and purchase the following: a large Diet Coke from the fountain machine and a toasted whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese and tomatoes. Place these items on a tray and walk it to the outdoor seating area. Look for someone wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with a huge Papa Smurf on the back. Leave the tray with him. You'll receive further instructions at that time.
Question: It is my birthday, I'm your No. 1 Aushole, and all I want is Lost scoop.— Kelly
Ausiello: Nikki and Paolo will get some serious airtime tonight when they go on a trek into the question mark with Locke and Desmond. And since you’re my No. 1 Aushole, here's an extra little goody: ABC released photos of Charlie and Claire smooching that were allegedly from a scene that was cut out of the Oct. 18 episode. Or are they from a future episode and just released prematurely? Hmmm….
Question: Can you give me a hint as to who dies tonight on Lost?— Dave
Ausiello: Yeah, here's a hint: As soon as tonight's Lost ends on the East Coast, check out my Ausiello Report blog. I may be posting something of interest to you. (Think back to last season and my very special posts immediately following the deaths of Ana Lucia and Libby. See where I'm going with this?)

Is it me or is this hype for "see who dies next on Lost" or "you won't believe who dies next" jumped the shark?

It is probably just me, because I have known for two weeks who was leaving and I have been ok with it.

I'm tired of seeing Lost cast members die. Unless it's an other.....lol
My list of who it better not ever be (beginning with Jack, then Sawyer, then Kate, you get the picture) is growing. But it will ~never~ include an other.
As for JTS - who knows. There seem to be more questions than answers but then again, this is a quirky show. Anything's possible. I think the shark is nearby, literally.
I'd just be happy with a 2 hour episode once in a while and for this upcoming hiatus to be a bad, bad dream. I still don't get it (the reasoning). I know Brent, you can try all you want to explain it to me, from a diehard Lost fan's point of view, it doesn't make sense to me to take it off the air for months, when it's a Top 10 Ten Show! If it were near the bottom, maybe.....

LOL, you know I do sorta agree, since the ratings are down from last year. Going off the air for 3 months will probably just hurt it more. Blah, I dunno. Seems like a lose-lose. A regular season would feature a ton of repeats in December and then in the Spring, and people didn't like that either.

Somethings just never make sense to me and this is one of them. I will stand firm on this opinion. Oh yes I will!
Sometimes I wonder if fans are more in touch with these shows than the writers/producers are.
Now I do realize b/c Lost films in Hawaii, the cast and crew would like longer breaks back "home". I don't think you'd find a Lost fan who wouldn't understand a schedule that would honor this request. They all can't just spend July until what March or April, in HI can they? What a hardship that would be.....wait we are talking about HI here and I've been there twice. It isn't the lower 48 but it isn't too shabby either!
I don't know what I'm saying exactly at this point but for the record, I do not agree with this hiatus.
