Well, that explains one mystery that kept me scratching my head in those days.

The old TWC Chatroom was my very first time in a chatroom anywhere. Before I began showing up regularly as "Bunch," I used some throwaway names (one of which was "Bob") the first few times just to test the waters. I did notice right away that sammy seemed especially friendly to "Bob," so I figured something was up and quickly switched to another name. After I got to know people as Bunch, I mentioned this to sammy, but she just laughed about it and wouldn't elaborate.

I remember when "Cindy" started showing up in the chatroom, and toalba would make constant references to "Cindy" and the Brady "Bunch." 2 seam, I'm going to have to send you a bill. Your jokes always made me go through more than my usual allotment of Advil. :)

Carl Parker and I used to PM each other in the chatroom and make fun of the people who seemed to be there only to cause trouble.

TB. . .good grief, I remember him. I'd been racking my brain trying to remember his name (for some reason, I couldn't remember two initials). That boy was the definition of the word "notorious." He was the only chatter I ever knew who would get booted merely for signing in.

As always, there were also some VERY strange people there. Anybody else remember Monique and Jared? Monique would sign into the chat and spend 5-10 minutes grousing about the fact that Jared wasn't in there, even though he had said he would be. And like clockwork, about thirty seconds after she signed out, he would sign in.

Ahhh. . . the old days. . . At least a good number of the people are here now to help carry on. . .

Actually Toalie, I took Bunch's comment towards your jokes to mean they were funny! But what do I know....maybe they were so corny, they were funny?

Bunch - usually a man of few words but this post, you really opened up! And am I glad you did? Absolutely!!! As you know I've tried encouraging you to post more here. Just my way, please don't take that to mean anything negative. I was laughing at your Bob comments, I can see why now you quickly chose the name Bunch and stayed with it. And BTW, do you know that I don't know your REAL first name?!!! You're one of those elusive wx pals that never really revealed your first name! For all we know it could be Archibald or something awful like that! LOL Let's see, what else....I remember Jared and slightly remember a Monique. I do remember people logging on only to look for someone specific and if that person wasn't there, they wanted to know if they had been there. At the time you were thinking - well, what about ME, will I do? :-) What am I chopped liver? LOL Do you think Jared and Monique were the same person now? Sounds like it from your description.

TB....can't remember that person. But I do recall people being booted off for merely logging in. And then they would login 20 times in row. That's when Chat started really going downhill I think.

TWC Chat Room was my second. I first tried AOL's weather chat - an awful place, if there ever was one. Absolutely no one chatted about weather. It should have been X rated for the material they were discussing. There would be a major hurricane brewing and they were talking about...well, I won't say it. I'd try to swing the chat towards wx and they wanted me to beat it! When I tried TWC's Chat Room, it really was a breath of fresh air. And once Tracy, Angelheart and Eric welcomed me, the rest is history. I had found my chat room home.

Back to Cindy/Keirs....I used to joke her nic reminded me of Cindyloohoo. Boy, between the both of us Toalie, I think Keirs was rethinking not using her real name!

Someone emailed SammyB, if you dig back a few pages, so hopefully one day soon we'll see a post from her Toalie! That would be so nice.

Well, enough rehashing of the old days. Sure were fun, weren't they?

Bunch, aka Archibald, just kidding, you keep posting like that you hear?

OMG, that was hilarious when Toalie did that!!! I could not log off, it was too funny.

We did get a lot of school kids that wandered into chat didn't we? They were supposed to be doing work and were goofing in the chat room. I have to say though, you'd think they'd come up with a more fun place, teen-wise, to go to than TWC Chat Room! But at the time we thought it was a real cool place didn't we?

Actually, I started using the name Bunch because it was my nickname in high school.

My real name is Orson P. Worthington, Esq. Jr. III.

Ok you guys. Here it goes. You asked for it. Here is my printed version of my old man routine. Read, laugh and enjoy!! One more thing. I hope I hope that I am not banned from here after this.

Greetings from Toalba714

Old man routine

Current age 92. Born 4/14/12. The same day the Titanic sunk. And same week Fenway Park in Boston opened.
Saw Jack Dempsey fight in person as a youngster.
Saw Babe Ruth play baseball. First game was in 1923 opening day at Yankee Stadium I was 11 Years old.
In 1927 I cut high school to see the Babe go for his 60th Homer at Yankee Stadium. Against the Washington Senators And Tom Zachary who pitched that day for the Senators.
Was always fascinated with the magic acts by Harry Houdinis.
Graduated high school in 1929 as a 17 year old and witnessed the Stock market crash. Saw many people jump out of apartment buildings in NYC.
Before I got married I once dated famous King Kong actress Faye Wray. She had dumped me.
Got married in 1930 to his High School sweetheart. Jeanie.
Worked at the Fred Astaire dance studio and I had invented the dance called the Lindy. Charles A Lindbergh the famous aviator was one of my students. I taught him the dance and he had mastered it so well I named it for him.
During the 1932 world series I went to Chicago and saw the game when the Babe pointed to CF and called his shot. He actually did point to CF then hit the homer.
Went to the 1934 all star game at the Polo Grounds and saw Carl Hubbell the lefty strike out Jimmy Foxx, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin. All hall of famers in a row.
July 4 1939 went to Lou Gehrig day at Yankee Stadium. Which was the first old timers day they had honored Gehrig past teammates and the 1927 Yankees. It was a very sad day.
1941 world series I was at the game when Mickey Owen dropped the third strike for a passed ball and the Yankees eventually scored the tying run and winning run and the series over Brooklyn.
1945 I was in the Navy during WW11 and was on the USS Indianapolis. I was a cook in the galley. That ship carried the A bomb to Japan. It was such a secret mission I didn’t know what we were doing on the ship. Then on the way back after dropping the bomb off the ship got torpedoed by a Japanese Vessel. Thus the Indianapolis sank. No distress signal was sent. 1100 men went into the water including me. 3days went by the men were dying and or bitten by sharks. They must have avoided me because I used that Old Spice Cologne, before we went into the water. By the 5th day a plane was spotted and some of us were saved maybe 300 were pulled out of the water. I was saved.
1947 Baseball broke the color barrier and the Brooklyn Dodgers bought up Jackie Robinson to play. I saw his first game.
1947 World series nearly had a perfect game Bill Bevins a right handed pitcher for the Yankees lost the game also.
1950 Wifey poo Jeanie suddenly died. So I never re married became a widower.
1951 NL playoff game Brooklyn Dodgers at NY Giants I went to the Polo Grounds that day and saw Bobby Thomsons famous shot heard round the world off Dodger Pitcher Ralph Branca.
1954 Knew this young musician/singer a kid named Elvis. I introduced him to the Colonel who eventually became his manager. I never made a cent from that Introduction and It was because of me that Elvis became famous.
1956 Saw Don Larsens perfect game at Yankee Stadium during the world series on 10/8/56.
Once worked in an eyeglass store and sold Little Stevie Wonder his first pair of eyeglasses.
Sat next to the Dude Sal Durante who caught Roger Maris 61st homer at Yankee Stadium in October 1961.
Helped a music group called the Beatles get to NYC and appear on the Ed Sullivan show.
Was at their first concert ever at Shea Stadium.
Was a hippie at the famous Woodstock concert in Upstate NY.
In the 1970s Lived in Brooklyn NY in the neighborhood where the movie Sat night fever was filmed. I worked in the pizza place where John Travolta bought those 2 slices of pizza. I got in the movie as an extra. I handed him the 2 slices. You can only see my arm.
Once worked in the US Post office and I knew the Son of Sam David Berkowitz who was terrorizing NY couples who were on dates. I saw Police catch him and I always thought he was such a nerd.
October 1977 was at the World series game when Reggie Jackson hit the 3 homers at Yankee Stadium.

Currently I am living in a nursing home. Where I have lots of widows and nurses chase me all day. It never ends. Sometimes I have to hide from them before they catch up to me.

WOW! Got a couple of e-mails telling me of this thread, so at the first opportunity I wandered by and read the whole thing! :D This has brought back sooo many great memories of wonderfully fun times.

Ahhh, the *old* TWC chat room... *s*... those were some great times...

Not only were we blessed enough to meet and become friends with some great folks, but we were also lucky enough to be able to assist some folks along the way. :) Sure we had troublemakers... but, I still say that the friends we made then (and the ones we are still in touch with to this day) are a direct result of that old place

Hmm ... I still hear from several of the *old crew*... TLC, hunter, Miss Mary... and even j and KraZy1 (aka: the *real* Bob - lol) on occasion. Also still run into the streetsoldier on the rare occasion that we are actually online at the same time....lol

As for me, I feel as tho I am usually trying to pack 36 hrs into 24 and it doesn't always fair so well on keeping in touch. Much has changed in my life since TWC chat closed down... I went back to work full-time, filed for separation and moved with my son, and ultimately divorced. But, one thing I can say, is that I have no regrets... my son and I have a much better life now and he is thriving... even got 4 Academic Excellence Awards in closing 3rd grade last week :D He wants to be a doctor... I'm all for it... then Mom can sit back and rock for a few yrs *chuckles*

Anyway, it is SO wonderful to see so many familiar faces in these posts... I've very much enjoyed *catching up* with all of you and will try my best to peek in here as I can and *Just Say Hi* ;)

Best Wishes and God Bless,
~Angelheart~ (aka: Lisa)

Lisa,

Great to hear from you! Reading about your memories sure brings a smile to my face. We did have fun and even helped people out at times (remember all the school aged kids logging on quickly, asking for wx help with assignments?!). I'm so sorry to hear about your divorce. That was sad to read but it sounds as if you're better off and much happier, even if busier (working full-time). That's something else we have in common, I was divorced when I met my husband Jim. Thankfully I didn't have children from my first marriage but it was still sad to close that door and open another. Hugs going out to you in this area. And always!

Now to Toalie.....that was hilarious!!! Must admit the movie Forrest Gump came to mind as I was reading your 'bio'.....since you were ~also~ instrumental in getting the Beatles established, helping Fred Astaire master his dance techniques, etc. Someday, years from now, we'll pull out this bio when you really get to the nursing home. We'll all have a laugh then huh?

Fur/Keirs - and this topic racks up two more replies! Cyclone, where are you? See what your topic has generated? LOL

Good to hear from you both. Take care down there in FL Fur. I always seem to burn myself on glue guns too. Such useful contraptions but messy too. They're not easy to work with - hence why I burn myself. Sloppy crafter here I guess! And it's always fun to do that with kids watching isn't? Oh no, you should haven't done that, they say! LOL
