"Sitting on the Front Porch"
Moderator: S2k Moderators
Ah a front porch! I love sitting on a front porch. I grew up in Georgia and we all had front porches. I live in Florida now. A few years ago when I screened in my front porch several neighbors asked why a front porch and not a back porch which would be private. All I said was "I am southern".
Pass the lemonade.

Hey Kay! Glad that you could join us on the front porch. Here is you a glass of freshly squeezed lemondade. I think I'll have some, too.

Yum Garrett, you make the best lemonade!!
Welcome Kay!! I'll be traveling to Tampa in a couple weeks to visit family. We may try to get over to Madeira Beach during the week. Also going to see "The Day After Tomorrow" with my mom, who's also a weathergeek. Can't wait!
Jacki, It looks like you've had plenty of storms to chase this week! No wonder you need a nap.
Have a great weekend gang!

Welcome Kay! I'm originally from Daytona Beach....flying back to FL in a few weeks, not planning on making it to your coast though...
Donna...I'm a geekazoid too..I'm READING the book "Day After Tomorrow", because I couldn't wait to see what it was all about! :O) I promise I won't give anything away though....
Fresh squeezed lemonade sounds wonderful! I think we'll pick up some lemons from the market today!

Morning fellow porchers!
I can't wait to see "Day After Tomorrow" either!!!
I am actually reading a book I just stumbled upon in the library that is really good title, "The Breathtakers", but it is about someone who murders during twisters. It is whacked, but oh so interesting... combining two of my favorite things... mystery and meteorology!

We have a major theater here in north Phoenix known as the Cine Capri. Huge curved screen, the curtains open when the shoe starts. All seats are stadium (maybe 1000 or so) and a theater bellman stands at the door to assist you if you need help.
I plan on seeing 'Day After Tomorrow' at that theater. I don't expect the story line to be as strong as the special effects...but on that screen should be great!
Nice to see you here Kay. Lemonade is gone, but the sunshine is plentiful this afternoon here!
Who wants to make a lemonade run to the store with me?

Welcome to the Porch Kay! I'm glad you found your way over here.....the porch is a nice place to touch base with folks here at Storm2K. I myself must learn to relax on this porch much more than I do! I sometimes forget to even read the posts here but I always suggest this topic first on the Off Topic Forum. Can't go wrong here!
Well, folks my ankle is healing oh so slowly......I twisted it 3 days ago. Foolish, foolish me didn't have on my good walking shoes while taking the dog to a local park. Down I went on the gravel trail. Ugh. It appears to be a minor sprain, but it's still painful. Must be this old 49 body telling me to slow down? Yes, I have to type 49 now, today was my BD. I can't even say I'm in my mid-40s now! I'm just having a pity party for myself here....I'll snap out of it soon. LOL
Stay safe everyone tonight, lots of watches and warnings. We have a Severe Thunderstorm Watch right now. Tornado Watches to my west though. Could be a crazy night!

Garrett - cake? Mmmmm! Sounds good, I like yellow or white cake with vanilla icing. Thanks!!!
Hey can I slip in a prayer request here? My husband Jim pulled a muscle in his shoulder, while hanging drywall. He went off to work today but his shoulder and arm are messed up. He's trying to talk himself out of a doctor now. That was me a few days ago with the ankle. The days of just running to the doctor are long gone for us - copays and our out of pocket expense are both sky high. So if you can just say a prayer he pulled something that needs rest. Which he's doing. He has a desk job, thankfully. Our daughter fell off her scooter yesterday but had minor scrapes from that incident. I am already declaring Jim's shoulder as #3, thinking how they say trouble comes in three's. We're done now. Trouble - you go elsewhere!!!! LOL Not that I wish trouble upon anyone else, but hopefully you all know what I mean!
Thanks everyone!

Mary, I hope your husband and daughter feel better real soon. And your ankle, too, for that matter.
I think that I will get you a vanilla cake with vanilla icing with a Deidre Hall imprint on it. Sound good??

Garrett - sounds good to me! And next to her face you can have written - alive and well? Not many members will know what we mean huh? LOL It's a soap opera thing folks.
Thanks too for the well wishes. I told my daughter Laura this morning - boy, your parents are falling apart! She said - well, that's to be expected, at your ages..... Out of the mouths of babes I tell you. I felt old and decrepid (sp?) when she said that! Just give me a rocker and a cane why don't you there Laura? Then of course she gave me a big hug and a huge smile. You see we baby boomers think we're 20 still!

They will still enjoy the cake whether or not they know who is on it.
You're only as old as you feel Mary.

Well, I managed to squeeze in new tires, Disney and wrapped up the book, Day After Tomorrow, this weekend...along with some serious shopping
. Great weekend here!
Hey...can anyone suggest where I can find a nice kimono with a big obi? I'm teaching Vacation Bible School again this summer in FL, and our theme is Japanese...I've found them online for quite a sum, and don't know if the investment is worth it...WHEN would I ever wear one again? Anyone want to loan me one? :O) My mom suggested I go into CHINA TOWN in LA and shop for one...Any thoughts?

Furry you probably wouldn't wear it again but I've seen them framed and they look terrific. I had a Japanese scarf framed and I love it.
Mary, did I miss your Birthday??
I'm sorry. I hope you had a special one and got some great presents. Glad the ankles healing. Try sitting down and putting your foot up for a change and I bet it will heal a lot faster!!!!!!
Welcome Kay. Sit back, put your feet up and enjoy this friendly place.
Well, I'll make some more lemonade - help yourselves. I'll sit back and relax for a while.
Take care my friends

Gasp! Mary, how could we miss your birthday?
I hope you're having a good week. And, yes, "Trouble, be gone!"
I hope everyone has their birthdays registered and that someone checks it regularly. I just searched around and couldn't find the calendar. Sounds like a PM to Tom is in order.
Congrats on your 3 month anniversary, David!! It's so nice to be appreciated finally.
