Furry!!!! Welcome aboard!!!! So glad you have joined us here!!! Home schooling? I understand why, but I'm not sure I could handle it if I had to do it!

I had a similar experience last night at choir practice. We were practicing for our Easter Cantata and my wife called and told me that we were at war. I announced it to the choir after we finished the song we were singing. Dead silence and then we sang three patriotic songs in a row ending with the Star Spangeled Banner, prayed and disbanded for the night.

Tonight we had a great prayer service in which we prayed for all of our active troops and for all of our veterans. The service started with "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" and closed with "Let There be Peace on Earth" sung by candle light. It was very moving!

Morning everyone. A nice day here!

Donna, I live in the SW corner of the state about 40 minutes or so SW of Springfield or about halfway between SPringfield and Joplin 5 or 6 miles south of I-44.

Thanks for the KK's Breeze... I don't usually like doughnuts but I think I might take one this morning.

I will be gone the rest of the day and much of tomorrow judging for a national speech/theatre competition. Everyone behave and stay safe.

Have a good weekend! :multi:

Looking forward to getting my vegetable garden in order this weekend. Been nice and hot here (yuck and sticky...note the sarcasm in the voice!)

Ticka that cactus looks like he needs a tequila!

Captain Midnight here, on the bridge of the good ship "Bootheel", Arrgghh! Ship's poogle puppy standing watch-on-watch wi' me on deck (watch CNN, watch FoxNews, watch MSNBC...all night long. ).

Gettin' ready to lay aft to me bunk....been a long and weary night, this one, Arrgghh! :o

Fogging the hold tomorrow, geting rid of those inch-long, brown prehistoric cucarachas, FINALLY it's warm enough to do it! :x Question for the huddled masses...is it safe to fog with PC/tower/copier/printer in the room? (All ship's power will be cut while we're gone, but we think they may have gotten into the hardware, Arrgghh!) :o

O'TAY....BREAK time! WHEW....like Bill, spent most of the night flippin channels, still am....what a mess!

Thanks for the vote of confidence chad, Marshall, Ticka....as you see, I've taken the mod. position back. It's like I told them, we are approaching our busy season (2 weeks away) so my time will be limited until next winter here at the boards.

The foot is doing MUCH, MUCH better...PTL!

Well, more breaking news, I'll be back!

Hi all, thought I would get up and say hi real quick. Still feeling awful but I was sick of lying in bed so here I am. So much is happening right now, it is hard to keep up! I'm not even going to try, not yet anyways, back to bed I go, I think I will crochet a blanket or something, have a good day!

(I'll try to pop my head in chat real quick tonight)

Clouds...

#1193 Postby azskyman » Sat Mar 22, 2003 8:05 pm

Well, friends, indeed there are clouds hanging over us these days. The war weighs heavy on all of us, so we need to get away now and then to refresh and reflect on that which is good in our lives.

Kathy and I grabbed a bowl of soup at an outdoor restaurant late this afternoon...and it was a delightfully light thing to do...a right thing to do. Beautiful afternoon here..about 81 and sunny.

Jacki...hope you are feeling better...and Bill, chase those critters out as best you can. Can't help ya though on the technical issue of what the fogger might do to electronics. Suppose it depends on any exposed wiring. Best to cover it all if you can.

When in Vietnam, we would fog our billets...there were so many critters in the walls that the whole place came alive for about 20 minutes before, of course, we then had to clean up the mess a couple hours later. With no windows in the place (only screens) it didn't take long for the fog to meander away.

Well..friend be safe. And do take a break from the TV if you can. With a friend or soulmate.

OMG...what a sad evening indeed, our own man trys to kill our own men! I hope they hang the SOB!

Hey Steve, a bowl of soup in 81° weather??? Of course they say something warm in warm weather keeps you cooler!

Not much else to report, the weather, BORING, a BEAUTIFUL 62° here today, even warmer tomorrow, seriously, as soon as the front lawn dries out, it needs mowing BIG TIME......hard to believe just 3 weeks ago I had 51" of snow on the ground and now the lawns so green and growing like never before!

Well, in a few hours, we are beginning our own version of "Shock-and-Awe" against the murderous, invasive and nasty little (Iraqi?) cockroaches...left in an adjoining apartment by evicted tenants (Al Qaida?), they spread through the walls last fall, and all winter have grown in numbers (aided by the French [outside contract teminators], Germans [several types of utterly ineffective "roach motels"] and Russians [cold weather])...the manager (UN) SAID they would take care of the problem, but, being wintertime with no possibility of adequate ventilation, they couldn't.

Now, it's spring, we are NOT waiting for the UN to mediate, screw the French, and are going ahead with our decontamination efforts.

DELL 24-Hour Support cleared us to "go", as long as we cover the plastic tops of the hardware...the fog will be seeping in through the vents, and should cause no damage to the "infrastucture" (interior workings therein)....although we have to turn off the main breaker switch before leaving for 6-8 hours.

Representatives of the "Republican Cockroach Guard" defending the walls and apartment nooks-and-crannies were unavailable for comment, but I stepped on a BIG one a few days ago, and intelligence data confirms that he was carried away on a stretcher, along with several other bodies. Scattered pockets of resistance are expected, but will be dealt with on a "target of opportunity" basis. Any prisoners captured will face summary execution.
