First day of school and already sick

#1 Postby beachbum_al » Tue Aug 09, 2005 10:20 am

My oldest daughter started school today. I got a call from the office about 8:30am that she was throwing up. Right now she is asleep on the bed. Poor baby! And I feel like a crappy mom for sending her to school.

Prayers and thoughts sent your daughter's and your's way. Have you checked also to see if she's running a temperature?

Mommy guilt......we've all been there. I can imagine the conversation now......mom, my stomach feels kinda funny...... its just nerves, you are going to school. ( figuring it to be first day jitters) Then the phone call and the mommy guilt strikes.

It doesn't make you a lousy mom! I hope she feels better soon!

I remember my first day of school (Kindergarten to be specific)...a family friend...a girl named Dawn who also was there for her first day in K and we were in the same class...well, she hurled on the floor and the custodian came and cleaned it up with sawdust...and she was sent home.

She may be scared and nervous about meeting people she does not know.
My grandson started last week and he is the total opposite. Didn't even cry when his mother left.

She just got up and ate a popsicle. She looks 100% better. Has her color back. When I went to get her from school she was so pale and limp. I believe we are on the road to recovery. :D It is amazing how children can bounce back so quickly.

I remember my first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday. After the horse and buggy dropped me off I was so scared

Kidding about the horse and buggy..some folks had cars then. Point is I remember how frightened I was on that September day a long long time ago.
