Prayers please
Another chapter in my life is nearing the end, my father, who is 85, his health is failing rather quick. Don't know when he will be called home, it could be today, it could be 6 months, I don't know. His heart is failing, his mind is going quick, he's in mid stage dementia, can't remember anything that happened yesterday, he's falling almost everyday, he does wear a "Life Alert" braclet for those times when he cannot get up. I'm asking for prayers that when his time comes, that it is quick and painless.

Dennis - if I recall correctly, you were the one that dubbed our wonderful prayer chain here simply, the Prayer Warriors. You were instrumental in rounding us all up and keep a prayer request topic current. For those reasons, of course I'll pray - even more so. But I would have prayed, no matter, b/c I've been thru this with my own father's last few weeks, in 1988. He was gone from us in 5 weeks. It's a very sad time, for your parent and for the remaining families left behind.
Hugs and prayers coming.

Thanks for the prayers and concerns, like I said, he might last one day, another 6 months, heck, even a YEAR but that's wishful thinking on my part, he's failing fast and giving UP....I think if my dad had a different attitude, he'd be o.k. but as we all know, when a person gives up..................

Dennis, My prayers are going out for your and your family. Losing our parents leaves a big gap in our hearts that will never fill up. I know, I have lost both my parents. My dad went first in 1996 and Mom went in 2003. Spend as much time with him as you can and always tell him you love him. That was what I said to my mom every time I saw her at the nursing home and it was the last thing I told her when I left.

I think when we feel a loved one has given up, we might just be wrong. Maybe they have made a conscious or sub-conscious choice to go on to a better place. Let him go with love and understanding, Dennis. It is the most loving thing you can do for him right now.
I will add my prayers to the others, both for your father and you.

So sorry
Dennis. I was in your shoes justm over a year ago when we lost my dad. He had been really sick and had asked my mom how much longer he had to go through "all of this." As much as I still miss him I am happy he no longer has to suffer. Prayers to you and your family. Nothing can be said to make this process any easier.

OH Bro!! We knew this day was coming, but it is never easy to accept. You know I am always praying for you and yours, but now we will ramp those prayers up a little bit more!!! Having lost both my own father in 1999 and my FIL in March I know where you are at. You have my numbers. Call me if you need to.
