How often are you in the chatroom?

#1 Postby whereverwx » Fri Jul 22, 2005 11:58 pm

The forums are the main attraction at Storm2K. While, glooming in the other corner of the tent; we have the chatroom. The chatroom is very fun. I go in every night, that’s when the real action starts! And I'm sure some people on here have never been in it. Now I won't list names, but you should check it out.

When you go to that link Calamity posted, there is a privacy pop up that comes up first that you must select Yes on.

It's also an IRC chat.. So if you have MIRC or Pirch you can use that as well.

We always have a blast and have some really good weather conversations, especially when there is a storm out there. And if there isn't a Hurricane we talk about weather around where we are located, etc. We also have an Off Topic Room if you want to go in there and BS with the rest of us :)

Come in and join us and get to know the posters on the board!

I'll guarantee you'll have fun! We have Frick and Frack and Hoochiekoo, Fly girl and George of the Jungle along with southerngoof, cajungoof, Trek, OHD, Yoda, ST04 and many many more. Try to figure out who those folks are.

We even have Meso from South Africa, tww from Australia, amen from Vietnam, Bobbysocks from the islands, Bobby from Canada and many many more! And of course...folks from all over the United States!

This may be a dumb question...

Is the chatroom just another portion of the forum where people can post or is it actually like talking (hearing other people's voices, actually TALKING with them). 99% likely it's the second option but I wanted to clarify cause if it is then I'm not going in. Ya know, it's like talking to strangers...awkward for me.

And for those who go into the chatroom then I recommend you don't let this post deter you from going in. This is just MY opinion.

Perhaps when I'm over 16 I'll give it a shot, but I'm a bit too young right now. And FYI, I still like posting here and giving my opinions, just not out loud.

It's real-time typing back and forth.

I have stopped in the chatroom a handful of times. You can't just sneak in and sit in the corner. Someone sees you and off goes the conversation. And then, trying to stay on track with the converation is a bit like MomH's post on AAADD.

In my mind's eye, its a bit like the bar scene in one of the Star Wars movies with Luke Skywalker, the wookie, and all the galactic characters trying to carry on a conversation. All of the sudden one of them gets blown away...there's a break in the conversation, then the music and conversations start again....as if nothing had happened.

The boards are more my speed. I can post and send and wait for a reply or go to another post.

I need a stiff drink or a Xanax before I try to keep up with the chatroom.

But I applaud those of you who can do it.

Wow, I am the only who put occasionally down. I stop in some, but usually it is during the day and either no one is there or the people who are in there don't say anything. Once in a while I make it into the nightly chats.

The chatroom is kind of slow now. That is because we are going thru a good rest from severe storms and canes. Once we get some action, the room really fills up. During these strong storms, the topic in the chatroom stays on Weather. During lulls, we chat about anything. It is a good place to come when we have action so you can jump in, ask questions or give information.
Nights are really fun, when people get home from work and after supper, etc.
Stop by anytime. You can stay logged on in the room while you use the forums too and check back every once in a while to see who else has come in. If the list looks long and no one is talking, they are probably at the forums too.

Thanks! I'm still new to the forum experience so I don't know as much as you veterans.

I just can't keep up with the chat room. I guess my brain is too old to keep up at that speed.
