AVG Email Scanner Help

#1 Postby southerngale » Wed Jul 27, 2005 7:05 pm

AVG has always worked fine, suddenly it says "Email scanner is not fully functional" and I can't figure out what's wrong. When I try to activate it again, it says "Personal Email Scanner is not configured." First of all, I haven't a clue how to configure it. Secondly, how could it become un-configured? I didn't do anything to it. I tried HELP. That was no help. It just told me I needed to configure it.

I've used them for years but I'm going to have to dump it and get another program so I can open my email if I can't figure this out. Funny, I don't remember ever having to configure it before.

Anyone ever had this happen with AVG?

Try following:

1. Restart.
2. If you're still using AVG6, update to AVG7.
3. De-install, drag the "Grisoft" folder (inside Programs) to Recycle, then re-install AVG7.

4. Install Microsoft Antispyware and Spybot Search & Destroy.

Thanks. I've tried restarting and I do have AVG7 and I tried re-installing it. Same thing. :(

Why Spyboy Search & Destroy? I've heard it's not very good and when I had it, it never found anything that Ad-Aware didn't pick up.
