Pinochet Stripped of Immunity

Augusto Pinochet has been stripped of his immunity by a Chilean Court. He was wanted in Chile for crimes he committed against his own people, but extradition was blocked up until this point. May justice prevail.

The move paves the way for his trial on charges of human rights abuses during his rule in the 1970s and 1980s.

The court voted 14-9 to lift the immunity the 88-year-old enjoys as former president, a court clerk said.

The decision may be appealed before the country's supreme court, which has repeatedly ruled that he is physically and mentally unfit to stand trial.
