"Passion" Film Prompts Man To Admit Slaying

#1 Postby southerngale » Fri Mar 26, 2004 12:21 am

The January hanging death of a woman at her apartment near Richmond was closed as a suicide. The death of Ashley Nicole Wilson might have remained so if longtime friend Dan Leach hadn`t seen the film: ``The Passion of the Christ.``
Fort Bend County sheriff`s Detective Mike Kubricht today said Leach`s experience viewing the film and a discussion with a religious adviser caused him to confess. Kubricht says all physical evidence pointed to suicide. Wilson had gone off several anti-depressant medications because she was pregnant. But investigators believe the pregnancy was the motive for the slaying.
The detective says Leach believed the baby was his and he didn`t want to raise the child.
The Houston Chronicle reports Leach was indicted Monday on a murder charge, arrested Tuesday and is jailed on 100-thousand dollars bond.
