Happy Mardi Gras to everyone.....

#1 Postby Guest » Mon Feb 23, 2004 7:12 am

Just wishing everyone a Happy Mardi Gras and Fats Tuesday. Enjoy the celebrations!!! How many of you attended parades over the weekend?

This is all leading up to Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent? Do you give up or sacrifrice anything for Lenten observation?

My family has decided to give up the Television and computer one night a week during lent.

I'm giving up taking morning break with my co-workers. Lately its been nothing but Catholic bashing, and I've had enough! These are the same people that are at the church everytime the door opens, and spend an hour a day of worktime reading the bible.

The latest bull going around the table..."How is it Catholics can consider themselves Christains when they don't take the Bible literally"?
Hogwash!...

One thing I respect about Catholicism is we don't bring our religion into the workplace.

I'm still sore for reaching up for beads and then reaching down to get the ones that flew out of my hands! All weekend was a blast down at the Strand. People crowded the balconies and the streets. And the parades down here were great! One more tomorrow night!

I've already committed to abstaining from a handful of things during Lent. My best friend's fiance said that he was going to give up being Catholic for Lent. No, he's not really Catholic. But we were having fun at Mardi Gras and the topic of Lent and the actual traditions surrounding it came up, so he offered that as his sacrifice for the celebration.

I was lucky...it didn't rain on my parade Saturday night! lol..corny, I know! But tonights and Tuesdays parades look soggy...might be a good day for spring cleaning inside the house!
