Al-Qaida's February 2004 Terror Plan

#1 Postby BEER980 » Fri Dec 12, 2003 8:29 am

FWIW I have heard from many different sources about a possible attack on Eid. Mark your calendar to keep an eye out just in case.

Al-Qaida's February 2004 Terror Plan
By MEMRI
MEMRI | December 11, 2003

The London-based Arabic daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported that "information sources close to Al-Qa'ida said that the organization, headed by Osama bin Laden, is gearing up for a big operation to coincide with Eid Al-Adha [February 2, 2004].[1]

"The information coordinator for the Sahab Institute, which is associated with Al-Qa'ida, said that a new videotape of bin Laden will be circulated shortly before the holiday. He added in an interview with the Internet site Al-Anbaa [The News] that the videotape will surface in conjunction with 'a great event that will shake the region.' He refused to confirm or deny that he was in possession of a pre-taped videotape of bin Laden, and stated only that: 'When the event occurs it will be broadcast by Al-Jazeera television.'

"The coordinator explained that he had an agreement with Al-Jazeera by which it was committed to broadcast any videotape that the Sahab Institute provides about Al-Qa'ida. He pointed out that the Institute would sever its relations with the station if it refused to broadcast a videotape, and reiterated that 'the station is obligated to broadcast any videotape we send to it.'

"The coordinator, identified by the nickname 'Abi Osama' [Osama's Father], added: 'We duplicate and edit the videotapes of the organization in special ways, and then send them to news channels, including Al-Jazeera, in response to orders issued to us.' He added that the telecast of the recent bombings in Riyadh, including the bombings in the Al-Muhiya neighborhood in the Saudi capital, is in itself evidence enough of Al-Qa'ida's responsibility for these events." [2]

[1] Eid al-Adha is one of the two major Muslim holidays, and is celebrated on the tenth day of the Islamic month Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar in which millions of Muslims from around the world make an annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

if i were a terror leader, this is what i would do:
i would plan a massive attack insode the us , a month or so before the election. the terrorists have to think a democrat would be less likely to fight them than bush. the terrorists may try to influence the election. just a thought.

how times have changed. i dont endorse this, but on the history channel last night about german resistance after their defeat in 1945. 2 things:
a-a german sniper killed a soldier. the americans rounded up 13 german army prisoners and shot them in retaliation
b-some snipers were reported in a village so the americans surrounded the town and shelled it to rubble with artillery

They are here right now. The conservative estimate is 2,000 to 5,000 of just Al-Qaida. Not to mention Hamas and the other branches of Islamic radicals.

mrschad you can click here for a national map of the known terrorist cells. I posted a story about this the other day in this thread. It appears in the Sleeper Cell section of the article.

We do have our work cut out for us here. This security blanket we have formed has to be lucky 100% of the time. The terrorist only have to be lucky once. IMO the blanket is too small and has many holes to be patched. Only time will tell.

There's no guarantee that they're not in any state. That map was originally
created by Steve Emerson who has been tracking these guys for years, and the map is over 2 years old.

And by the way, al Qaeda has not hid the fact that their next attacks will
be chemical and biological.

We've got Sadaam, now we need to get Bin Laden. However, that does
not rule out that if HE goes, the groups will reform by ideology and
common hatreds to continue attacks around the world. They are not a
centrally-controlled organization anyway...

The map says it was Updated September 3, 2003 so I don't think it is 2 years old. Now for OBL I think I read that one of his sons was tapped to replace him.
