DALLAS, Texas -- A three-story mansion caught fire just before 9 p.m. Saturday in the exclusive neighborhood on Park Lane.
Firefighters were able to preserve most of the $5.5 million home, but it took nearly 100 firefighters and heavy equipment to get the fire under control. Fire officials said the size of the house and the weather did not help matters.
"Well, of course you have rain, and it's cold right now," said Lt. Joel Lavender of the Dallas Fire Department. "It's in the 40s. The grass around the house is soggy."
The owner of the mansion -- Dallas entrepreneur and well-known philanthropist Scott Ginsberg -- was not present at the time of the fire.
Sunday morning, fire investigators were still trying to determine what caused the fire.
No one was injured in the four-alarm fire.
