'Rape victim's hysterical call' for help
A MAN has told a Sydney court his daughter phoned him in the middle of the night screaming hysterically that she had been gang raped.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, was giving evidence at the NSW Supreme Court trial of two brothers accused of gang rape today.
They were allegedly part of a group of five who raped the man's 16-year-old daughter and her 17-year-old friend on July 27/28 last year at a house in Ashfield in Sydney's inner-west.
The father glanced briefly at the two accused as he passed them in the dock.
He told the court he was woken by a phone call about 2.30am on July 28 and his daughter's name flashed up on the telephone's display screen.
"All I got was a hysterical scream on the other end of the phone," he said.
His daughter told him she had been "raped and dumped", he said.
"She asked me to come and pick her up but all the time she was just screaming into the phone," he told the court.
The court also heard from Dr Eva Jackson, a sexual health specialist who examined the two girls several hours after the attack at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
She said both girls were still bleeding from lacerations to the genital region.
Dr Jackson said the younger girl had suffered one of the most severe genital injuries she had seen, apart from injuries sustained during child birth.
"I thought it was quite severe, one of the most severe injuries I've seen if you don't count my obstetrics experience," Dr Jackson said.
The hearing continues.
