Is there a certain song that remind you of someone?

There are certain songs that whenever I hear them, they always make me think of someone....family, friends, former school teacher, etc.

For example, whenever I hear the song "Baby Blue" by George Strait, I ALWAYS think of my oldest sister Becky. Why? She has baby blue eyes - "just like the Colorado sky"; and because she moved away from Georgia after she married Dave in 93'...and I miss her so badly :(

If I ever hear "September Morning" by Neil Diamond, I've always thought of my late cousin Susie, and her sisters Patty, and Janice. Why? When I was a kid and visited their home in Tennessee, they always had Neil Diamond records playing on their stereo. Most songs by Elvis Presley make me think of my late mother (especially "Kentucky Rain"). She was a huge Elvis fan; not to mention he and she both were born in March 1936 and both died in 1977 only months apart :(

"After the Love is Gone" by EWF makes me remember a former girlfriend from 1979 named Marie.

"Let's Go" and "Since I Held You" by the Cars makes me think about a beautiful lady in Mississippi who I came close to marrying in 1995 (Connie was also a huge fan of the Cars).

"Renegade" by Styx reminds me of Becky's ex-husband Kevin (and I wish he'd "swung for a bounty" :D

For some reason "Lonely Boy" by Andrew Gold always makes me think of a certain well known meteorologist (you all know him, and he's famous for internet tirades :D

reminds me of the ex-hubby! :roll: :P

"The B_TCH is Back" by Elton John reminds me of my first wife! On second thought it also reminds me of my second wife too! ;-)

Songs remind me of places more than people. I remember listening to certain music at specific times and events in my life.

For example, walking around the compound on guard duty one February night in 1970...it was Three Dog Night I heard coming from a hooch...and I not only remember the music vividly...but the distinct smell of pot rolling from the windows. If I remember right, I may have spent a lot of time that night protecting those guys, listening to Three Dog Night, and taking in the fresh air!!

Love Shack? Hows that for something etched in the memory of a soon to be keenager. How many wedding receptions have I danced to that song???

And the chicken dance....you may recall, I threw the wife of the Mayor of Schweiberdingen, Germany, flat on her back on the floor while flopping my wings.

On a more calm note, I remember the wedding reception of a dear friend of ours back in Illinois...the father/daughter dance was to Froggy's Rainbow Connection. She was indeed a princess. Her dad, a US Congressman at the time, beamed proudly into his daughter's eyes. I still remind her of that moment...and she remembers it well too.

Indeed music takes me back....

Steve just reminded me of another one....

The song "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle always makes me think of my sweetheart niece Maddie...ever since she was a baby :)

Hmm. Songs don't usually bring back memories of a certain person, but I know there is a certain song that will last long in my memory.

It was the 8th grade dance(kind of a mini-prom I guess you could say), I didn't dance with anyone until 9:00PM until Angela came up and asked me(dancing with someone is a shock to me, them coming up to me is more of a shocker) to dance with her. Even though that didn't even last a whole song(her mom came early), I went back to my friends. At 9:30, the last song was played. It was "Pictures" by Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock, i'll always look back on it because it was a missed oppurtunity for me(it's a long story......).

YEah for women's liberation! Im sure there will be plenty of dances in your life David! Just remember...most women like to dance and most men are afraid to get turned down. The result is a lot of women who want to dance but don't have dance partners!!! That's what I call an opportunity!!!!! :-)

btw, I met all three of my wives on the dance floor :-)

The song "Breathe" by Faith Hill makes me think of the happiest day of my life - the day I married the woman I love. It was the last song we danced to at our reception, and I just remember how happy and complete I felt at that moment. :)

On my front, definitely yes. How about the Evanescence song "Bring Me To Life" for example. This song reminds me of HG. Yes, our very own HurricaneGirl. She helped me a lot to start this year and through it all - she brought me to life so to speak.

There are many other songs that remind me of other people as well. I lost two very close friends to me in 1990, and the song from Guns N Roses - "Patience" came on every time I had a radio on.

Perry, Butterfly Kisses always brings a tear to my eye.. On the day that I got married, when my Dad was driving me to the church he played that song for me... When ever I hear this song it gives me goosebumps and a tear in my eye.

Carried Away by George Strait is my hubby's and me song. Describes our relationship. I still get chillbumps listening to it.

We were driving over the Bolivar Ferry and going towards Winnie - that song came on and he got out of the car and we two-stepped in the middle of an dark road with the radio cranked up...Oh the memories....

I know what you mean Bronwyn....I already dread Madison's wedding day (I know I'll cry) ...and she's only 8 1/2 years old :(

I lost someone very dear to me 3 yrs ago this October and everytime I hear that song it hurts so bad.

Streetsoldier just reminded me of a couple of other songs that bring back memories ... actually, three.

The Morning After was used in a Hurricane Hugo special from one of the local TV stations in Charleston (WCIV-4).

These two songs only the heaviest of heavy metal fans would know.

On 96-WAVE in Charleston, they used to run a program called "Metalshop" and the night before Hugo came ashore a song from a band called "Onslaught" came on and the song was "Shellshock".

After Hugo came through, there was, of course, a sense of shellshock as no one could really believe the devastation that was left behind from Hurricane Hugo.

Another song from the same band, "Lightning War" pops up in my mind sometimes watching fierce lightning storms.
