#1 Postby RL3AO » Tue Sep 01, 2009 10:12 pm

..ODE TO SUMMER 2009

YOU ARRIVED QUITE LATE
YOUR WARMTH NEVER GREAT
OFTEN DREARY AND GRAY
RAIN...FILLED MANY A DAY

NOW ITS TIME YOU DEPART
LEAVING US HOW YOU START
TEMPERATURES UNSEASONABLY LOW
YET SUNSHINE ALL AGLOW

SOME RECORDS DID FALL
AS RAIN PILED UP TALL
THE THIRD COLDEST ON RECORD
NOW ON THE BOOKS IN ROCKFORD

THOUGH AUGUST 19TH CAME IN
WITH STORMS THAT HAD SOME SPIN
YOUR UNUSUAL AUTUMN-LIKE CHILL
KEPT SOME LONGING FOR THUNDERY FRILL

SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE IS YOUR FATE
AND NOW FOR WINTERS EL NINO WE WAIT
A PARTING GIFT BEFORE YOU GO
YET ANOTHER NORTHWEST FLOW

WHILE TAKING SOME POETIC LICENSE TO BID ADIEU TO SUMMER...POETRY
IS NOT NECESSARY TO DISCUSS THE TRULY SPLENDID WEATHER THAT IS IN
STORE FOR THE REGION THROUGH THIS WEEK.

Haha, brilliant. I always enjoy the weather messages where they cut loose and act a little more human. I remember quite a few of those from the NHC near the end of the 2005 season.

I think a majority of the country is feeling the same way. We only started to get real heat and humidity towards the end of July. I just wonder what winter is going to be like...

I like when the forecasters "cut loose" as well.
