John Hughes Dies

#1 Postby OpieStorm » Thu Aug 06, 2009 4:13 pm

John Hughes has died of a heart attack.

Hughes suffered the heart attack while taking a morning walk during a trip to NYC to visit family.

He directed such '80s hit films as "The Breakfast Club," "Pretty in Pink," "Sixteen Candles" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

He was 59.

He directed some of the funniest movies I have seen...

RIP

WOW, some of his movies are among my all-time favorites. Vacation, Bueller, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Home Alone...

Quite shocking. RIP. :(

On the way to work this morning I started to hear one of the morning DJ's talk about The Breakfast Club, but changed the station because I thought she was just being silly, as they often are...

I have a big problem with that film because it attempted to validate teen "angst" (a/k/a disrespect towards adults) - granted, the adult in the film was a dope, but in real life people are usually not like that - most of the teachers I knew in high school were pretty good (though there were a few big egos here and there)...

Still, I'm sorry to hear about that - the original Home Alone movie was (is) my favorite...

I'm in my 50's and sometimes fear that (a heart attack) happening suddenly, but all we can do is live every day as best we can...

May he rest in God's peace...

Frank

His death is very sad and after realizing he wrote and directed some of the best/funniest movies of the 80s and 90s, I felt a deep loss. He was a comedic genius from 1985-1992. RIP John.

I didn't realize who he was till I started reading and found out what he had directed. The film world has lost a true legend and genius!! RIP.
