July 31 (Bloomberg) -- Pope Benedict XVI’s voice will be heard as he recites prayers in an album that will be released ahead of Christmas by the record label that signed up Nirvana.
The album, still untitled, will be be released by Geffen Records, owned by Universal Music Group, on Nov. 30. A spokesman for the label confirmed the pope’s involvement in the album.
Vatican Radio will license clips of the pope’s voice from recordings of his masses and recitals. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will compose the music and the Choir of the Philharmonic Academy of Rome will accompany. Proceeds of the sale will go to a charity for underprivileged children.
