That said, has anyone here actually ordered this DVD set? Is it worth it? I'm thinking about ordering it for my mom.

The Midnight Special
First of all, this is the most ingenius informercial I've ever seen. As soon as Conan O'Brien ends and you're about to turn off the television for the night, what else but THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL should come on?
It sucks you in because it's so cool to watch, and then before you know it you're watching infomercials for the Miracle Knife, P90X workout videos, or the Sleep Number bed. I have a feeling NBC's infomericals executive actually pays the Midnight Special just to keep up their ratings up during the middle of the night.

Re: The Midnight Special
A moldy oldie but a goodie. Around that same time, I also remember watching "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" on TV, and a few years later "The Old Grey Whistle Test" at a friend's house in the early days of TVRO/"BUD" satellite dishes. On the fledgling USA Cable Network back in the very early 80s. there was a really great show called "Night Flight", which showed a lot of music documentaries.
