Looky what the cat drug in.....

Kitty brought me this present about 6:45 this morning and was quit gentle with her. She definitely likes to kill things and bring them to me, but not this time, nothing but a small pin sized mark on her. I researched how to care for her and was going to do it, but then after some careful thinking and advice from a few friends one being feederband from here I decided to take her to rehabilitator near me. She will have a much better chance there. I think she will make it fine, she seemed very frisky and healthy. But isn't that one of the cutest things you every saw? lol. It was hard to give her away but shes much better off.

We throw unsalted peanuts out to ours everyday.

One day we were "late". A squirrel jumped onto our kitchen window screen. Scared the crap out of Marty and our dog went nuts (pardon the pun...).

Steph - I've been doing the same thing for years as a tactic for keeping the little yard rats off my bird feeders. Works like a charm. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! The blue jays go nuts over the peanuts too. It's hilarious watching the young ones try to figure out how to bash open the shell.

This is my baby, Roxie. She fell out of our palm tree out front during Hurricane Francine. She was out there 12 hourse overnight until we could find her. We were told she was probably 10-14 days old. We raised her ourselves and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives. She used to follow the scent of my finger on a towel before she opened her eyes. We were able to hand feed her and give her the round the clock care they need, so we wanted to try. We had her about 5 months before she died of unknown causes. But she will always be one of the loves of our lives.
I understand and applaud your decision to give her to the rehab center. It was difficult work. But unfortunately, the rehab center here was already unindated with baby squirrels and wouldn't take anymore, and we couldn't bring ourselves to take her there so they could humanely euthanize her.

We will forever be infatuated with squirrels, but the only one we have now is the plastic one in my flower garden!

Ours are spoiled. I buy the jars of unshelled peanuts.

The blue jays come out of no where when I toss them out. The squirrels don't care and even if one is hanging on to the bird feeder and I throw out some peanuts, they're still stay at the feeder.

I'm like you, if you can't beat them, join them. I know that as they go for their favorites - the sunflower seeds, they're dumping the rest on the ground which the mourning doves and sparrows don't mind.

Aww, so cute! Yeah I was told that sometimes they can seem healthy and then up and die. That is one reason I handed it over. In your case I would have done the same, after all our canes here in 2004 there were tons of squirrels, birds and such that where injured or homeless in the thousands of fallen trees. I know the rehabs where over full, like I said in that case I would have done it myself. I should call and check on my little girl and see how shes doing. Its so easy to get attached, I only had her a few hours and didn't want to give her up.
