Christmas ?

#1 Postby Kelarie » Mon Aug 13, 2007 8:15 am

Okay, I nearly had a heart attack when I walked into the local Hobby Lobby Saturday. The hubby and I were looking for Halloween stuff (yeah, I know a little early) but had the shock of our lives. They already had their Christmas stuff out!! ALL OF IT! Trees, lights, bulbs, everything. And it was 40% off, already.

I don't get it. Christmas is still a long ways off. Why torture us already?

UGH.

Lewis Black explained it all in one of his comedy routines.

I'm starting to look around a wee bit for some Halloween items, but it's a bit early even for that in my opinion. Holiday marketing has gotten far out of hand.

No frickin' way! Sorry for the language.....LOL I would have been as shocked as you were. I walked into KMart last year and was shocked it was all on display so early too. I can't remember when that was - September maybe? But August is very, very early.

Maybe they pulled out all the stuff from last year that didn't sell and thats why it was 40% off. Whatever the reason they oughta be shot. :2gunfire: LOL! Its way too early to start thinking about Christmas............

LOL!

I wanted to say shame on Hobby Lobby!!!

Flood their headquarters with emails/feedback. Tell them this is too early! I just might write them a letter or two......

Making ornaments now, that take time is one thing but to see decorations up and on display, is just retail crazy.

Pretty soon, we're going to end up with either:

1. One Holiday - Christmas. THE only holiday.....

2. Or Christmas out year round, with Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving tucked in next to Christmas trees......

We're in the midst of moving from our apt and one of the first things we took over were the Christmas decorations; the hubby said let's put them up now  Told him he was a sick pup and I'll never do that again, because he is sick now and I'm stuck moving it all, sigh.

OK, I've heard of Christmas in July, but isn't that a tad bit late?

Sigh...I wish we had Hobby Lobby here in Myrtle Beach.

Then again, I just got back from a Christmas Light Convention in Gatlinburg, where I bought over 14,000 lights to add to the 17,000 that I put up last year. Yep, I'm one of those crazy decorators that thinks and plans it all year.
