#1 Postby Dionne » Sun Jul 15, 2007 9:04 am

Our DSL service has become horrible. Any inclement weather and DSL goes down. I tried calling the help line.....now if I could just get someone that can speak reasonably fluent English!!!!!

If it only goes down in inclement weather, it sounds to me like you might be getting water in your phone junction box outside your house. The box where the outside phone line actually plugs into your home phone system. You might try to rig up some sort of waterproof container to wrap around the box, and see if that solves your problem. I had this problem with my cable when i first moved in, and fixed it myself because the Comcast cable techs were too incompetent to do it right.

I've had Bellsouth DSL at my parents house for a long time. I can't wait to get Road Runner at my own place in a few months!

This sounds terribly familiar - turned out we had had an ant bed built in our junction box. Caused our phone connection to be bad, dsl to be bad, etc. Go look inside it and see what is there. Hopefully they haven't locked you out of it. They did ours after they cleaned it. Which to me is ridiculous as now if they do it again we can't clean it ourselves - they will have to come back out.

We had a problem with ours as well.. Was getting rain in it, and sand so it was causing major issues.. after several calls to them and them trying to do things at thiere station and tech support over the phone (cause they were apearatly to lazy to come out) I went out to the box myself to inspect.. It was infact locked with the plastic lock crap.. I broke it off, cleaned it out, fixed my self and all was fine after that.. P.S. moved out and got RR and would not go back to DSL for nothing

I had Charter high speed, and when I switched to Direct TV, I decided to let Bellsouth give me a whole bunch or "rewards" for switching (which included DSL as well as a lanline)

I must say, I'm not dissapointed. The cash back totalled $400 and the DSL is at least a more predictable speed than the ever fluctuating cable modem.

Yeah....your right. I'm not sure of the man's identity, but it is patron from a place called Sonny McCleans in Santa Monica, Ca. They have a sector of Red Sox Nation there called RSN-West and Sonny's owner is the Pres.

Hey Chad..in the old days, you would have said that was ME in my younger days. Your losing your touch.

It's all very local, even within the same technology and the same company. Local infrastructure quality varies, as does the number of users on each node. Each of these factors affects service quality.
