ESPN hits a new low

#1 Postby Category 5 » Wed Jul 04, 2007 12:48 pm

Saturday Night On ESPN2, the U.S rock paper scissors championship.

Who wants to watch this?

P.S: I didn't post it in the sports forum because it's not a sport.

As if ESPN, a nationally televised station, doesn't have their favorite teams that keep getting talked about ad nauseam....

I got sick RPS when I was.....gosh I dunno. 10 at the oldest.

my son (who is 23) gets a kick out of this and he's a sports fanatic. There were a competition here at a local bar that was well attended. Just because you aren't interested in it doesn't mean that espn has hit a low.

To be fair to them, their name is:

Entertainment and Sports Programming Network.

So they're not just limited to sports. I happen to think their low is glorifying rodeo competition. But, that's me.

No, the day they hired Kirk Herbstreit was their all time low.

I just don't get why they've taken a game used to settle disputes between kids and made it a nationally televised event and put big money into it.

When I was in grade school, RPS solved every little dispute, I used it daily. After that, it seems kind of pointless to make it anything more. It seems like they're just taking random games and passtimes and throwing them out there to see if people will watch. Just my opinion. Some may disagree and I respect that.

If curling can make it as a winter olympic sport, I guess anything's possible...

Is ESPN running out of ideas all of a sudden?
