I'm moving to Louisville

#1 Postby isobar » Wed Jun 20, 2007 9:45 pm

And that's why I haven't been online in like a month. My husband got a new job there, and we're going through the process of selling the house, finding a house, finding schools for the kids, etc. This is the 3rd move in the last 6 years. I hope it's the last one for a while.

Louisville's a great place. I'm really looking forward to it. Thankfully it's only 100 miles east of where I live now, so commuting in the meantime is easy, and I get to keep the same climate I've grown accustomed to. :)

Hope to check in more than once a month!

Now how did I know that? Congrats and best wishes. With every move comes anxiety and the sadness of parting with friends and family, but there are good things on the other end, not the least of which are the opportunities to again show yourself and your family that you can both succeed and be happy in a new place. And your world, and your children's world, continue to grow. Best wishes Donna and family!

Good luck with the moving, Donna. There IS soooo much to do, for sure.

I dread the day we have to move. We have so much stuff.

I went through Louisville en route to Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful country up there. It isn't all that far from Nashville, maybe 120 miles or so?

Donna - finally, you know where you're moving to! Louisville is a very nice town. As I'm sure you know (since as you say it's not far from your town now). We drive thru L. on our way to Bowling Green, to and from, when visiting our college aged daughter at Western KY U. In fact, she's met many new friends who are from Louisville. Right now she's interning for a small newspaper in Bardstown and drives into Louisville for fun (apparently there's an eclectic area with shops, cafes, she likes a lot, I'll look up that info for you Donna). And the best news? You're only 2 or 2.5 hours from Cincy! Depending upon traffic. Hey, we could meet half way and shop in LaGrange, KY and finally meet up. Just one of my favorite smaller Kentucky towns with quaint shops and such (La Grange that is). There's also a very nice, newer outdoor shopping "mall" called Crestwood I think. It has lots of stores that are quite popular today (Ann Taylor, Borders, Old Navy, Gap, etc.).

Finally, have you learned how to pronounce Louisville, so you'll sound like a local? We've been told you have to drop your voice down low and speak as if you have marbles in your mouth, saying - Louavulle. Never say Louieville! LOL At least this is what I hear..... he he
