Been in New Orleans

Attending a conference here (On Canal, at the Sheraton) for the last two days. Good conference, out on Bourbon Street last night. Had a good time. Have written a poem about the city. Its of a negative nature. May review it quickly upon getting home. Might make some changes. But think the poem is not too bad. Deals of course with the aftermath of Katrina, and the chances the the city can recover and still keep its "essential integrity". As much as I love tropical weather, I wouldn't mind if its quiet next week. Taking a few days with just the wife (no kids this time) at Pensacola Beach. Use to go there every summer, but you know what happened with Ivan in '04. So the last two years we went to Panama City Beach. Enjoyed it. But still have a soft spot for Pensacola Beach. (Also seems like the food in Pensacola is more to the liking of this Louisiana boy). Gonna read, swim, listen to the waves, spend time with the Mrs. (a lot of it quiet time, I suppose) you know moments together for two that have been married for the better part of 16 years. Been through a lot lately, and really looking forward to it. Now that I've said that, I better keep a close eye on the tropics, eh?

Enjoy your vacation BB. Kids are terrific however adult time alone does wonder for the soul. I was getting worried when I didn't see you post these past few days. Glad you are just enjoying some down time.
