computer problems. Blaster Worm and IE7

#1 Postby coriolis » Wed Jun 13, 2007 7:56 pm

It took me all of last night to get rid of Blaster. Once it was gone the message boards said to run the latest updates from microshaft. It offered IE7 and like a sucker I said "sure." What a mistake! I had nothing but problems and had to uninstall it. Back to IE6. At least it works!

I'm glad that I still have winME on another computer because it wasn't affected. (maybe just lucky) but I downloaded stuff onto it and transferred to the infected XP machine with thumb drive.

Tip: IE is terrible. Use firefox or better yet, opera.

I use both and do like Opera, but there are compatibility problems with some sites. Firefox seems to work pretty much everywhere. And for those few sites that absolutely insist on IE, there's the IE Tab plugin for firefox. :-)

IE7 gave me problems too. It worked fine at first, but then everything got screwed up and I couldn't visit any sites. It was fine again after I went back to IE6.

Since this is a computer problem kind of thread. I have a question. I cannot access paypal (which I was trying to do to donate) or Amazon. It tells me the page isn't available. Is that a firewall issue?

That's strange. . all I've been seeing are complaints/problems about Safari 3 (both PC and Mac). I've attempted to use Safari (2, not 3) but I missed FireFox too much.

What browser are you using? [s]Try clearing the cache (in Firefox) or clear the temporary internet files (IE).[/s]

ETA: I did a Google search. It could be any of the following:

1. Can't access certain secure Web pages

2.
Connection Refused - everytime I try to access Paypal.

3. Subject: Can't Access Paypal

4. Google Search

I hope this helps. . .

I've been having alot of problems lately myself. I have to restart my computer at least once a day. I shouldn't have to do that. I don't know if its IE or if I'm having a ram problem or what. I've ran all adaware and spyware programs as well as virus scanners. They don't find anything. Any suggestions?

All the freakin' computers here at the PD downloaded IE 7 for some reason, poor tech guy, spend 47 hours STRAIGHT trying to dump the piece o' crapola and reformat (I think that's what he said) the ENTIRE server. AFIS, ACIJAS, NCIC, CODIS and ALL other programs were effected...the whole network went belly up!

I'm one of those that hasn't had a single issue with IE 7. However, I mostly use Firefox anyways.
