I've sustained damage

#1 Postby azsnowman » Wed Jun 06, 2007 7:05 pm

This makes me SICK  I've lost 2 of my prized Siouxland Poplars to this FREAKING wind :grr: one clipped the corner of the house, luckily, no damage to the house, the wind also broke my Iron Wood fence, broke my SMOKE STACK to the WOODSTOVE, CRACKED a pane in the greenhouse...all of this resulted from a peak gust of 71 MPH here at the house. This is, without a DOUBT, the WORST wind storm I've ever seen!

I've been through a major wind storm earlier this year (not to mention a lot of dust was brought here), so I know what you're going through.

My dh called me yesterday from Meeker, Colorado telling me they had to shut the job down due to the wind. He said he had never seen such thing before (neither have I) and that it was blowing equipment over. I never knew what a wind storm was until yesterday. Down here, ours usually involve rain and have names. :)

Hey Dennis. Sorry to hear that our valley wind channeled right up the rim to your neighborhood. We had some gusty winds yeaterday, but nothing like yours. I estimated 45 mph at their peak.

I've been in the heart of some 90 mph straight line thunderstorm winds, and I was in Typhoon Louise while in Vietnam. Wind, in general, makes me nervous and agitated, so you would not have wanted me around your house yesterday. Seems to have calmed down in the valley today, although still some gusts at time.

Looks like a freeze is next on your plate for tonight!

Now think about those poor souls down in Cozumel when they were under hurricane force winds for 36 straight hours

I can't EVEN imagine....our high winds lasted just over 12 hours and I too, like Azskyman became VERY uneasy, very testy!! Steve, yup, we're in for another round of freezing temps tonight, hit 31° this morning and it's supposed to be even colder tonight! :(
