The suspects are of Pakistani origin and their families have lived in the UK for at least 30 years. At least, that's what differente sources, such as Times and BBC are reporting.

It's a shame these things have to happen. It'll worsen the already tense relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims in Europe.

Pakistani origin. Gotcha. Have they said how old the suspects are? If they were born in Pakistan or Britain? And you are right, this sends a very bad message IMO. When they sink so low as to kidnap a solider off of the streets, no one is safe. I shudder to think what is next.
