The box underneath the seat is where the reactor goes. :D

Now I get it.

Looks darn good to me.

Throw in a fuel rod and away you go.

For long trips, you could carry a spare in your jersey pocket.

Wouldn't you need special...uh, erm...bike shorts to ride one of those things?

You say "reactor" and all I can think about is Chinatown, Three Mile Island, and Chernobyl.

I'll take pedals, thank ya very much. Besides, isn't a bike for recreation and exercise?

In my schematic the radiation is directed downward so you'd really just need protecting shin pads and shoes. Or you could lift your legs up.

I am sure in the event of a reactor core problem the only person who might die would be the rider. A very slim chance. I'd be more concerned with headgear.

And bikes are for recreation and exercise in America, but not the developing world. Think of the possibilities! The Chinese are going to be buying cars soon and there's only room for our pollution in this world, so if they get nuclear powered bicycles the problem is solved. :)

Also, because of problems with engines breaking down in extreme places (antarctica, saharan desert), the nuclear bike would be a supurb choice for exploration in those remote locales.
