Publix: Storm Ready

#1 Postby scostorms » Sun Sep 18, 2005 4:54 pm

When I was in Florida in August(during Katrina), the Publix stores all had a sign that said Storm Ready. I got a Hurricane Survival Guide, and it says go to Publix. What is up with Publix, and why is it Storm Ready?

I am not sure so I will just make a guess. I think it may mean they have extra stock on basic storm stuff. Usually water is a big item and batteries & pop tarts go fast. They do have the flashy free tracking maps with Publix sale items also.

In other words they have 10-18 pallets of water in the backroom along with Treet, ect.I went though this when I use to work for a grocery stores.Every year they always send us pallets, pallets and pallets of water, but we never get a hurricane. Also every grocery store chain has its "own" weather man so the main office know how much to send. The store mangers do NOT have anything to do with the ordering.BUT when it comes to jumping the gun they will do that.Thoses weather guys are worst then Joe B.!!!!!!
