Kind of strange that WPB is only getting 82 mph winds? wasnt the winds at 110mph just 30 minutes ago?

They are going into the calm of the eye...

The strongest winds are in that band offshore now.

Spoke to my brother in Coral Springs, power out, every tree except one down blocking the road. (There were 20-30 pines, all 30 foor plus) He forgot to charge his cell phone so we have lost contact. Probably the best pounding since Andrew.

Spoke with my friend in Boynton Beach

#5492 Postby FloridaHawk82 » Mon Oct 24, 2005 9:11 am

My business partner in Boynton Beach still has cell service and has been calling me. Wanted to know when he was going to be in the eye. Now, he's standing outside and says it is pretty calm. They lost 3 trees, but no structural damage in his neighborhood. We'll know later how well our office fared there.

The radar loop from The Sun-Sentinel shows a pretty dramatic eye over Palm Beach County:

I'm in Coral Springs. My power is still here (for now.)

During the eye, we went out. I took lots of pics.

Lost 1/2 to 3/4 of the trees.

I just have to say this is the wierdest hurricane I have been through, as far as tempature goes. I walk outside to feel the gusts we are getting and look around at the trees blowing, and it is freezing. It is 61 degrees right now, and add the wind in on top of it it feels downright cold. At least for those who have lost their power it will be more comfy for them for a few days, unlike last year with the 3 storms we lost power with, it was so humid and hot through those. It just seems odd. Our first true cold front, and a hurricane all at the same time. I will remeber ol Wilma for that alone. Thank goodness thats I all I have to remeber her by. I think I will get on a flannel and go walk outside some while she is still here. Winds are not high enough to be dangerous, but high enough that I want to get a peep.

Sun just out briefly in Venice. Still breezy but rain has stopped. Temps dropped a little more than 20 degrees since the storm started last night.
