Just heard on the radio that the NHC in Coral Gables recorded a gust of 104mph a few minutes ago...

A heck of a southeast eyewall is moving through northern Miami-Dade county, and should smack Fort Lauderdale from the west in about an hour.

Where's the weak Cat. 1 or strong TS predicted by the wonderful forecasters?....

Oh, with this I'm referring to the forbidden W-word (besides Wilma), this is not a bash on the NHC.

I think Miami-Dade will get it bad with the backside because we had almost nothing beside rain in Charlotte County until the backside came in about an hour ago. Now we are experiencing major gusts!

Yeah, was just looking at that on radar.

Looks like I'll be getting that real soon.

Who was forecasting TS or weak Cat 1?! Almost everyone I know was forecasting Cat 2/3. So far, the strongest sustained winds I've heard have been around 90mph, with some gusts near 100-115mph. I'm sure there were some areas that saw stronger winds, but there are no measured surface winds above cat 2 that I know of.

Can't remember but it wasn't him.

Fowey Rocks isn't even in the eyewall.

No, that was Steve Harrigan. He is one crazy reporter. I remember watching him during Katrina. I think he was in Mississippi then.

The eastern eyewall is nearing the east coast of Broward and Palm Beach counties. It looks like Miami is missing the strongest part of it.
