Recon did close off a vortex. However, since that time, the convection southeast of the center dissipated and there appears to be only a broad low elongated NW-SE. Looking more like a wave, but I'd wager that the NHC will still say it's a TD at 4pm and probably all night, unless recon can no longer find a center early tomorrow morning.

Recon has found one . . . unless recon reports back otherwise in the next hour, 5pm will not be Chris' last advisory - i.e. he'll still be a TD.

It does appear that (via recon) we're witnessing the TD opening up into a wave. It was definitely closed on the first pass, but that seems real questionable now.

Seriously, I agree with several others this thing has got to be a wave. Even if he does hold on past 5, if Chris doesn't quickly get his act together, he'll be dead and I'll be giving my famous goodbye to him.

On the current pass? Yes. But you do realize that they recorded 36 kt earlier, right? There was a substantial area with winds above 30 kt.
