bucman1:

You can get the current and forecast radii of the various winds in a tropical cyclone from the forecast advisory, issued as part of each package. here's the latest for Ernesto:

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE 997 MB
MAX SUSTAINED WINDS 45 KT WITH GUSTS TO 55 KT.
34 KT.......100NE 0SE 0SW 40NW.
12 FT SEAS..210NE 150SE 0SW 40NW.
WINDS AND SEAS VARY GREATLY IN EACH QUADRANT. RADII IN NAUTICAL
MILES ARE THE LARGEST RADII EXPECTED ANYWHERE IN THAT QUADRANT.

So, tropical storm force winds extend 100 NM to the NE and 40 to the NW, but not to the south.

That help?

There are also wind analyses form the HRD that provide a great picture of some of this stuff. The latest one I could find from Ernesto was from Friday at 19:30Z. Take a look, though:

This should be updated today, I think???
