There will be a storm called ELIDA this year, so how do you pronounce ELIDA, simply e-lee-da or i-lai-da?

I would personally Hispanize it and say A-lee-dah.

É is often pronounced with a hard A type sound of course. But even in Spanish or latin languages pronunciations can be different locally. For example the famed latino musician Xavier Cugat had hs first name pronounced as Zay vee air while the San Xavier Mission near Tucson is pronounced Hah veer.

The E in Elida has the same pronounciation as the first e in elephant.

Well, I'll wait to see how (and if) Martha Vasquez or Lupita Murillo on KVOA-TV News here in Tucson pronounce it.
